Position Overview 

The Development Operations Database Specialist is a key member of the Development Operations team, working under the guidance of the Senior Manager of Development Information Systems in supporting staff with the use of the donor database (Raiser’s Edge), data requests, and data maintenance. The Specialist will provide training for effective use of the donor database, be the main point of contact for related questions, identify and resolve data integrity issues as well as implement new policies and procedures as needed. 

Responsibilities:  

• Serve as the staff expert on Raiser’s Edge (RE); establish user protocols, maintain user guide, and provide ongoing training to all development staff in the effective use of RE, including on-boarding new staff with RE setup and training. (30%) 
• Provide friendly, responsive and efficient RE support for end users using Zendesk to triage all user support requests, meeting metrics for response and resolution time. (30%)
• Design and perform import solutions, accompany end users through both simple and complex data projects, and manage other bulk data changes including data appends such as NCOA and AgeFinder. (20%) 
• Design and implement data integrity program to sustain set performance metrics, lead data cleanup projects as part of data maintenance, and oversee robust record de-duping processes. (10%) 
• Troubleshoot technical issues with RE; work with Blackbaud support and database hosting vendor as necessary to resolve. Assist in server and software upgrade testing/implementations. (5%) 
• Support efforts related to PIH’s Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) needs assessment and implementation project. (5%) 

Qualifications 

• A minimum of five years of experience in database administration using The Raiser’s Edge or comparable fundraising software required. Raiser’s Edge experience and certification strongly preferred. 
• Proficiency in Excel including Pivot Tables, Macros, and PowerPivot with the ability to quickly learn and implement new software applications and technologies in database management. VBA and SQL skills a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize tasks and projects in a complex environment in accordance with departmental procedures and priorities. 
• Ability to evaluate user needs, requests, and problems and display sound judgment in designing solutions. 
• Demonstrated training skills to ensure proper use of the systems and reinforce protocols for consistent coding and data integrity. 
• Exemplary interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively with culturally diverse staff across departments and countries. Able to communicate effectively with colleagues of all technical abilities. 
• Interest in social justice strongly desirable. 
• Able to work December 26 – December 31st every year.
