The California Long-Term Care Education Center (CLTCEC) is a dynamic nonprofit organization dedicated to providing educational opportunities as tools of empowerment for long-term care workers to build better lives, provide quality care and meet and invest in the critical needs of the long-term care workforce. With the wave of the baby boomers in or approaching retirement age, 10,000 people will turn 65 every day for the next 15 years, which creates systemic pressures and the need for growth of the long-term care workforce.  CLTCEC’s mission is to enhance the skills of direct care workers that are needed to support this diverse aging population.

 

Reports to: Executive Director

 

Position Summary: The Director of Programs, a key member of the Education Center’s leadership team, is responsible for developing, planning and overseeing the coordination and administration of all aspects of home care training programs, including proof of concept, planning, budget development, staffing, and leading the direction of program activities. He/she engages in high-level strategy and decision-making processes to meet the current and anticipated needs of students and stakeholders in the ever-expanding long-term care workforce. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

§ In conjunction with Executive Director, develops statewide strategies to deliver training program for home care workers

  • Plan the delivery of the overall program and its activities in accordance with the mission and the goals of the organization
  • Develop new initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organization
  • Develop and implement long-term goals and objectives to achieve the successful outcome of the program
  • Develop budget and operating plan to support the programs and monitor spending to stay within budget
  • Develop a program evaluation framework to assess the strengths of the program and to identify areas for improvement
  • Direct and shape the instructional design and instructional processes in conjunction with committees
  • Work with stakeholders, staff, and external subject matter experts in developing program curriculum, standards, and policies
  • Remain current in trends in the long-term care industry in relation to the workers we serve, including attending professional conferences
  • Ensure that program activities operate within the policies and procedures of the organization
  • Oversee the collection and maintenance client records for statistical purposes according to the confidentiality/privacy policy of the organization

 

  • Develops and maintains relationships with and communicates with funders, clients, the SEIU Local 2015 and other stakeholders for a variety of purposes
  • Works closely with other members of the leadership team to ensure the effective and efficient program delivery
  • Write reports on programs for management, funders, and other stakeholders

§ Responsible for directing community outreach efforts by actively leading field team by modeling behavior, providing direction, and coaching to improve performance

§ Monitors recruitment and program data and takes corrective action to ensure successful enrollment and retention outcomes

§ Develops, monitors, evaluates, and refines CLTCEC’s program process to ensure optimal delivery and quality experience for students, ensuring program objectives are met

§ Supervises faculty and field staff, conducts observations, administers staff evaluations and ongoing training and professional development

§ Develops meaningful reports based on program data

§ Other duties as assigned by Executive Director or designee

 

Required Competencies

§ Strategic Planning and Execution: Demonstrated success in leading efforts in planning and driving effective implementation with focus on global organizational goals.

§ Inspiring Leadership: Demonstrated success in motivating and retaining highly talented staff and proven ability to mentor and empower staff members.

 

Experience and Qualifications

§ Bachelors’ degree in program management, gerontology, social services, public health or related field; master’s degree preferred.  

§ Bilingual preferred (in Spanish/English, Chinese/English, Korean/English, or Armenian/English).

§ Four years experience developing program structure, with emphasis on delivery of instruction, recruitment, home care or adult education.

§ Familiarity with healthcare environment strongly preferred.

§ Five years of experience managing programs, with at least four years in a supervisory capacity.

§ Experience assessing staff performance, and developing and delivering staff training.

§ Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to foster a cooperative atmosphere in a diverse community.

§ Highly organized, systemic thinker with strong management skills.

§ Valid CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.

§ Exhibit collegiality and diplomacy within a team environment, display good work ethics and a mature understanding of cultural diversity.

§ Demonstrate compassion, competency, and professional accountability for interactions with consumers, stakeholders, colleagues, and others.

§ Proficient in MS Office applications and familiar with database programs.

§ Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

§ Able to travel within California, and occasionally to other states within the United States.

§ Valid CA driver’s license, current automobile insurance, current vehicle registration and reliable transportation required.
