JOB ANNOUNCEMENT DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR Unit: Fundraising and Communications Employee Type: Full-Time, 35 hours _____________________________________________________________________________________ Fifth Avenue Committee, Inc. (FAC) is a nationally recognized South Brooklyn based, non-profit community development corporation and NeighborWorks America chartered member formed in 1978 whose mission is to advance economic, social, and racial justice through integrated, communitycentered affordable housing, grassroots organizing, policy advocacy and transformative education, training and services that build the power to shape our community’s future. FAC works to transform the lives of over 5,500 low and moderate income New Yorkers annually so that we can all live with dignity and respect while making our community more equitable, sustainable, inclusive and just. To achieve our mission, FAC develops and manages affordable housing and community facilities, creates economic opportunities and ensures access to economic stability, organizes residents and workers, offers student centered adult education, and combats displacement caused by gentrification. In addition to our grassroots neighborhood work, we are actively involved in broader coalitions and campaigns. Fifth Avenue Committee (FAC) seeks a full-time Development Coordinator, who will report to the Deputy Director of External Affairs and Strategy and work as part of a small team. The Coordinator will take an active role in maintaining and building FAC and its nonprofit affiliate Neighbors Helping Neighbors’ base of foundation, corporate, government and individual donor support. The department is responsible for stewarding and raising a portfolio of over $5 million in grants, contracts and contributions annually, and for increasing the organizations’ visibility. Responsibilities include: • Developing, writing and submitting grant proposals, reports and correspondence to funders and prospects. Collaborating with program and development staff to develop proposal concepts and write and submit proposals and reports. • Serving as one of the organization’s NeighborWorks America administrators and managing our regular reporting to NeighborWorks. • Managing individual giving planning process, and carrying out those strategies, once developed. • Planning and implementing annual individual donor appeal campaigns. • Providing staff support to the board fundraising committee related to individual giving and events. • With other development staff, participating in a communications strategy planning process, and supporting communications-related tasks as necessary. • Coordinating, planning and implementation of two annual fundraising events, as well as other large and small fundraising and cultivation events, as needed. • Building and refining the department’s mailing lists of donors and prospects. • Provide task supervision to AmeriCorp VISTA, interns, volunteers and/or consultants, as needed. • Other duties and providing support, as assigned. Requirements include: • 4+ years of experience in a fundraising, non-profit or community development setting. • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required. Master’s degree in nonprofit management or a related field preferred. • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communications skills. • Experience in non-profit fundraising, including proposal writing, individual giving and fundraising events. • Strong computer skills, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet research. • Experience in database and list management. • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects. • Ability to work well with diverse constituencies. • Knowledge of, and interest in, community development and commitment to Fifth Avenue Committee’s mission. Compensation: $57-60k, commensurate with experience.
