Location: Flexible

Apply by: October 26th

About JFF:

JFF is a national nonprofit that drives transformation in the American workforce and education systems. For over 35 years, JFF has led the way in designing innovative and scalable solutions that create access to economic advancement for all. Learn more about JFF and join us as we build a future that works.

About the position:

Due to JFF’s rapid growth and opportunities for increased impact, we are currently hiring a cohort of Senior Program Managers to meet the needs of various teams across JFF. These new Senior Program Managers will be assigned to specific teams across JFF, based on the organization’s evolving needs and candidates’ skillsets and interests. We believe Senior Program Managers are considered the rocket fuel necessary for our success, so this is an opportunity to contribute to JFF’s important work, develop valuable skills, and work in an equity-centered, innovative, and mission-driven environment.

Senior Program Managers are collaborative project managers who excel at utilizing their strategy, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills to impact mission-critical bodies of work. Whether facilitating a convening of external partners or taking a deep dive into quantitative data analysis, Senior Program Managers play a key role in designing, strengthening, and scaling solutions that create equitable conditions and clear paths to economic advancement for all.

Overall examples of the work our teams engage in can be found through exploring the Impact Stories on our website. Throughout the interview process, we will assess candidates’ interests and skills in order to place them into one of the following teams:

  • Advancement Unit: This Unit is working to fundamentally change existing systems and re-imagine new ways for people to access the knowledge, skills, educational credentials critical to launch, re-enter, or advance in careers and realize their best possible futures. Examples of the types of work our team engages in can found through exploring the impact story for Pathways to Prosperity, as well as those for Place-based Initiatives and Opportunity Works.
  • Inclusive Regional Economic Development Unit: This team designs place-based strategies to transform workforce, education, and employment systems and produces more equitable outcomes for Californians, with a focus on cross-sector work between K-12 and community college systems, workforce, economic development, industry, and government.
  • JFFLabs: JFFLabs, the innovation engine of JFF, mobilizes promising technologies and strategic partnerships to scale solutions that expand economic advancement for all. We bridge the gap between companies and startups, traditional education and workforce systems, and investment.
  • Knowledge Management: This team shapes technical tools that make sharing and accessing data easier and collaborates with staff to assess and find solutions for new and ongoing needs. They also help JFF build on lessons learned, work at maximum efficiency, and make space for innovation.
  • Learning Unit: The Unit works with secondary, postsecondary, and traditional education systems. To drive change, we scale innovative models that meet the contemporary needs of postsecondary learners, put work at the center of learning by aligning the workforce and education systems, and remove barriers that keep back under-represented students.
  • Policy & Advocacy Unit: This team offers fresh ideas on education, workforce and poverty alleviation issues. Our policy experts design and promote policies to help federal, state, and local communities implement and sustain programs that demonstrate the most promise. We synthesize research, evidence, and input from practitioners to inform national policy and debate.
  • Research & Analytics Unit: This Unit engages in research and evaluation activities that can inform practice and policies that promote economic mobility for youth and adults. The team works externally, conducting research projects and providing evaluation services for a variety of funders and other stakeholders. Internally, the team works to support the inclusion of research and evaluation components across JFF projects and creates tools and systems to enhance the efficiency of our work and promote the sharing of new knowledge across the organization and the field.
  • Strategy, Growth, Innovation, and Impact (SG2I): The newly formed team works across the entire organization to define, lead, and execute a cohesive strategic vision. They support organizational and unit strategies, growth plans - including new lines of practice, products, platforms, large-scale partnerships, and possible acquisitions and funding – and an innovation agenda to enable JFF to scale its impact across the workforce and education ecosystem.
  • Work Unit: The Work Unit partners with employers, government, educators, industry associations, and others to build and scale effective, high-quality programs. Examples of some of the types of work our team engages in can found through exploring the impact stories for the Google IT Support Professional Certificate Scaling Initiative and Pathways to Tech Careers as well as our recent research on Transforming IT Training Programs into Successful Career On-Ramps
