Climate Mayors, founded in 2014, is a peer-to- peer network of U.S. mayors working to express and build political will on climate change. We seek to strengthen the role and effectiveness of local government in addressing climate change. Climate Mayors is currently chaired by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. Mayors Martin Walsh of Boston, Madeline Rogero of Knoxville, and Sylvester Turner of Houston serve as co-chairs. Climate Mayors have all committed to adopt the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement in their cities, and set a goal to reducing emissions, take actions to achieve the target, and share their progress. Climate Mayors currently meet monthly via conference call.

Climate Mayors grew considerably over the past year and now encompasses participation by 406 mayors from a diverse array of communities across the country. To serve this new scale of membership, as well as to advance a more ambitious agenda that spans from communications to joint action, Climate Mayors seeks to secure a Director to provide full-time, professional management of the Climate Mayors network.

The Director will be charged with managing all day-to-day operations and enhancing the network’s ability to effectively: 1) express the political will of American mayors; 2) coordinate and amplify mayors’ communications on climate; 3) serve as a central organizing hub to mobilize multi-city collective action efforts; and 4) coordinate with a number of city supporting partners to streamline city climate action initiatives.
