Project Summary

GMS is seeking a dynamic, experienced, successful Advancement professional to work closely with the Head of School and Director of Advancement to develop and implement our Brave & Bold Capital Campaign. This is a part-time, 10-month position reporting to the Director of Advancement. This role will include both onsite and remote work.

The Brave & Bold Capital Campaign intends to raise $30 million in total funds over 5 years with an annual goal this year of $10 million. The selected candidate will partner with GMS’s Head of School, Director of Advancement, trustees, and volunteers to launch this campaign and reach the 2021 - 2022 goal. 

General Responsibilities

  • Overall campaign management and organization including pipelines, prospect tracking, strategy, task assignment, and maintenance of timelines. 
  • Write campaign correspondence including solicitation proposals, meeting requests, and meeting follow-up.
  • Maintain master campaign calendar to maximize cultivation events and keep the campaign on track.  
  • Attend all Board of Trustees meetings and committee meetings relevant to the campaign and present when needed.
  • Mine appropriate platforms to identify prospects. 
  • Schedule meetings, prepare talking points, assemble presentations, and fully instruct board members, campaign volunteers, and GMS staff. 
  • Coordinating with the Advancement Associate, oversee acknowledgment of all campaign gifts and pledges, and prepare pledge payment reminders and pledge agreements.
  • Facilitate internal alignment meetings to define scope, requirements, and program objectives related to all Advancement goals and events. 

Skills and Abilities

  • Successful experience in and knowledge of fundraising, specifically capital campaigns, is required. 
  • Capacity to work collaboratively with all levels of staff, volunteers, Board members, donors, and prospective donors.
  • Exceptional documentation, verbal, visual, and written communication skills.
  • Top-notch project management skills: highly organized, self-motivated, detail-oriented, creative, strategic, professional.  
  • Ability to develop effective professional relationships with a diverse spectrum of donors, vendors, faculty, staff, and volunteers.
  • Candidates must have experience using online databases, preferably The Raiser’s Edge and Blackbaud’s wealth screening engine. 
  • Enthusiasm for the values and mission of The Girls’ Middle School.

Education and/or Experience

Demonstrated success employing cutting-edge technological and interpersonal skills to achieve desired results; Deep knowledge of best practice fundraising principles and project management skills specific to the needs of a capital campaign is expected.

Fee Structure

This position can be filled as a contractor or as a temporary employment role. If choosing a W-9 contract position, please provide information on your proposed fee structure listing fees based on the scope of the project discussed above. Separately, state charges for anticipated reimbursable costs. This structure should be expressed as a “fee not to exceed” figure which itemizes all services included in the proposed fee, as well as an itemized list of what would be considered “additional services” if requested. Consultants must carry business insurance.
