The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, the region's largest grantmaker and permanent charitable endowment, is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Vice President for Community Strategies. The Community Foundation’s mission is to inspire, support, inform, listen to and collaborate with the people and organizations in Greater New Haven to build an ever more connected, inclusive, equitable and philanthropic community.
In 2021, The Foundation launched Stepping Forward, a three-year supplemental funding commitment of $26 million to address the widespread immediate community needs caused by COVID-19 and to advance equity in Greater New Haven.

POSITION:
The VP for Community Strategies is a senior level position reporting to the Senior Vice President for Grantmaking and Strategy. The VP will be responsible for working with The Foundation’s staff and leadership team to develop, implement and refine programmatic strategies that advance the strategic plan objectives around equity and inclusive growth. The VP for Community Strategies is also responsible for overseeing The Foundation’s strategic initiatives including but not limited to The Neighborhood Leadership Program and New Haven Healthy Start. This position requires supervision of staff as well as volunteer management. In addition, as a member of the Senior Management Team, this position plays a key role in the management of The Foundation as a whole.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Develop new relationships and cultivate partnerships to support inclusive growth;
o Develop and oversee strategic grantmaking program that supports career pathways in local growth sectors for people of color, women, immigrants and formerly incarcerated;
o Develop outreach and engagement strategies that provide meaningful input into The Foundation’s work from constituencies that would benefit directly from community investments;
o Align the activities of all existing strategic initiatives
