The Senior IT Administrator serves as the strategic leader for all agency IT needs and responsibilities and oversees all aspects of the agency’s computer and IT-related infrastructure. As a highly engaged, collaborative, and hands-on leader, the Senior IT Administrator will maintain networks, servers, security program and systems; manage the upgrade and installation of new hardware and software, perform troubleshooting to address problems with computer systems, and assess viruses and potential threats to the agency’s network. The Senior IT Administrator supervises two members of the IT Department and ensures the cohesion of daily IT functions. The Senior IT Administrator serves as a strategic thought partner on the Executive Leadership Team and actively contributes to the vision, mission, and values of Friends of Youth. 



  • Oversee the IT Division while serving as the principal resource regarding IT issues.  
  • The Senior IT Administrator will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and Directors, as well as vendor partners, regarding high level projects such as System Cloud migrations, upgrades, and conversions.  
  • Serve as the project liaison with technology partners to ensure smooth implementation of systems and support with cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization; this includes making recommendations and developing relationships with technology partners.
  • Oversee planning and budget assessments for future hardware and software upgrades and/or replacements, including new cloud system projects. 
  • Configure and maintain internal and cloud-based systems.  
  • Administer and support core Microsoft, Cisco, and Hyper-V technologies. 
  • Interview, hire, onboard, orient, train, supervise and mentor the IT Administrator and IT Help Desk Administrator.  
  • Monitor the performance of cloud systems and on-prem servers, software/ hardware and make necessary configuration adjustments. 



  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and/or related field is required.
  • Certified Microsoft Professional; CISCO certification is a plus. 
  • Minimum 8-10 years progressive experience as an IT engineer and/or administrator.  
  • Minimum 5 years of managerial experience. 
  • Extensive experience in Windows server Operating Systems including virtual environments, MS Exchange, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Access and SQL databases, SharePoint, and Microsoft 365 platforms. 
  • Experience developing and executing diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism initiatives as they relate to people, practices, policies, systems, and the strategic vision of an organization. 



  • $85,000 - $95,000 annually. Friends of Youth offers a competitive benefits package that includes:

Office location is in Kirkland, WA. Work is performed remotely and onsite/in-person. Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm; May be required to work some evenings and extended hours as job duties demand.

  • Extensive troubleshooting, problem-solving, and customer service skills. 
  • Extensive knowledge of Networking Technology, DNS, router, switch, and firewall configurations, and wireless access points using Cisco CLI.   
  • Knowledge of scripting language, HTML, ASP and basic programming. 
  • Working knowledge of Hybrid cloud environment and configurations, LAN/WAN networking and a wide variety of desktop applications. 
  • Knowledge of LAN Routing, Vlans, IP Subnetting. 
  • Ability to work with upper tier vendor support in resolving issues. 
  • Ability to coach, guide, and supervise team members. 



  • Must satisfactorily pass criminal history check.  
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid Washington State driver's license (or be able to obtain one by date of employment).  
  • Employees and volunteers who operate their own or Friends of Youth vehicles on Friends of Youth business must have a safe driving record as defined by Friends of Youth. Employees and volunteers who operate their own vehicle(s) on Friends of Youth business must carry auto liability insurance that complies with the requirements of Friends of Youth.
