The Resurrection Project (TRP) has grown to become a powerful and effective social enterprise that seamlessly blends community development, community organizing, and advocacy with human service delivery to create vibrant, healthier, and involved communities. TRP, started with an initial seed capital of $30,000, and its efforts have leveraged over $600 million in community investment.

The organization’s entrepreneurial spirit has transformed its success into a model that strengthens the social fabric of troubled neighborhoods'. TRP’s model includes three-pillars:

  • Community Ownership: Provide tools and skills for self-advocacy.
  • Community Wealth: Enable financial stability to induce economic mobility.
  • Stewardship of Community Assets: Build and preserve assets to revitalize neighborhoods.

The Economic Development Director (DED) will play a pivotal role in creating economic strategies, businesses networks in TRP’s multiple markets, assist small businesses and social impact organizations access capital and provide infrastructure technical assistance. The director is also responsible for developing business strategies that lead to creating business cooperatives, social enterprises, and other private/public joint LLC ventures.

Esential Responsibilities & Duties:

· Leads TRP’s Community Organizing Business efforts.

· Responsible for creating networks of Social Impact Organizations (SIO) to collectively access capital for SIO business constituents.

· Develops economic strategies to create business cooperatives, social enterprises, public/private joint venture LLC’s that lead to job creation.

· Provides infrastructure and operational technical assistance to small businesses and SIO’s.

· Develops and manages network of supportive businesses partners to assist small businesses and SIO’s i.e. accountants, attorneys, bankers etc.

· Develops relationships with business groups including chamber of commerce, business development centers

· Manages TRP Business Navigator Model with national partners such the American Business Immigrant Coalition (ABIC).

· Works closely with the Real Estate Development division to develop strategies for business owners to own the property in which they operate.

· Build long-term knowledgeable and trusting relationships with neighborhood partners including community leaders and organizers, property owners and lessees, developers and managing agents, commerce, religious institutions, and financial partners.

· Develop a collaborative, team environment with strong communication and problem-solving capabilities.

· Attend and participate in required organizational programs, board, committee, and staff meetings.

· Maintain required job skills and core professional competencies.

· Assist the cultivation, management, and expanded relations with TRP member institutions, leaders, and partners to promote TRP’s rental goals and organization mission.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Performance Measures:

· Effective, consistent execution primary duties and responsibilities as describe above

· Effective management of assigned division budget.

· Effective, strategic development of relationships with peers, leaders, and partners.

· Cultivate, manage, and expand relationships with TRP member institutions, leaders, and partners to promote TRP's rental goals and organizational mission.

· Active participation in required staff and community development meetings and programs, with the ability to speak of a demonstrated understanding of market conditions and trends.

· Accurate and effective communication with TRP staff, partners, and clients.

· Maintain communication with funders, investors, etc., on any outstanding reports

· Effective assessment of the needs of the resident community.

· Effective coordination with outside organizations and other departments within The Resurrection Project.

· Maintain required job skills and all professional competencies.

Essential Knowledge & Skills:

· Bachelor’s Degree is the minimum educational requirement.

· 10 plus years’ experience in Business development environments.

· Have a commitment to community development.

· Supervisory experience required.

· Represent the organization professionally.

· Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work effectively with people of diverse social, faith, economic, and racial/ethnic backgrounds.

· Excellent analytic and quantitative skills.

· Demonstrated ability to use Word, Excel and Salesforce

· Bilingual (Spanish) written and spoken required.

· Strong customer service skills.

· Excellent communication verbal, written and body language.

· Demonstrate ability to build relationships and work effectively with people of diverse social, faith, economic, and racial/ethnic backgrounds.

Special Working Conditions:

· Willingness to work flexible hours as needed; evenings and weekends required.

· Access to a car, valid driver's license, and ability to travel within the metropolitan area and sometimes out of state.

· Must be able to visit partners in multiple TRP markets

· Maintain required job skills and all professional competencies.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
