Join the finance department of a nonprofit publisher and help create and support soulful books with lasting cultural importance. With a fiftieth anniversary on the horizon, we are in an exciting period of growth, and this is a rare opportunity to join this committed staff of twelve.

About us: Heyday is an independent, nonprofit publisher founded in 1974 in Berkeley, California. Through twenty new books per year and a backlist of two hundred titles, we promote civic engagement and social justice, celebrate nature’s beauty, support Native American cultural renewal, and explore the state’s rich history, culture, and influence.

About you: Ideally you have experience in bookkeeping, financial reporting, and office management. You are energized by the prospect of working at a scrappy nonprofit and helping us to align our visions and our resources. You have strong critical thinking skills and are extremely organized and meticulous. You have experience with—or a keen desire to learn—QuickBooks online and knowledge of nonprofit and/or accrual accounting, GAAP, and FASB 116 and 117. Publishing experience is a plus. You are Bay Area–based. We have flexibility about remote and in-office work, and our staff of eleven is 100% fully vaccinated.

About the position: This position is full-time and reports to the General Manager. Health, dental, and vision benefits, along with access to a 401k. Generous holiday, comp, and PTO policies. Salary range $60,000–$70,000, depending on experience.
