International Arts & Artists (IA&A), a Washington, DC-based nonprofit organization is seeking a Museum Registrar with 3 or more years of museum registration experience including both national and international art shipping experience to support its Traveling Exhibition Service (TES). IA&A produces and circulates traveling exhibitions nationally and internationally with an average of 15-25 touring annually to multiple venues. Working with IA&A’s Senior Registrar, this Registrar is part of a team that is responsible for managing logistics of current and future traveling exhibitions while ensuring the care and well-being of the artworks during all phases of each tour.

The Registrar’s responsibilities range from finalizing object and crate checklists to coordinating shipment logistics to traveling to venues as a designated IA&A representative and courier (virtual couriering of exhibitions has been partially implemented due to Covid-19 restrictions). The Registrar is a primary contact for IA&A exhibitions in transit and manages all logistics with a high level of professionalism, adhering to museum standards and best practices as well as IA&A’s expectation of providing superior service to our lenders and venues.

The Registrar also manages IA&A's permanent collection of 400 works of contemporary prints, drawings, paintings, and sculptures. Those responsibilities include but are not limited to preventative maintenance, cataloging, and inventory.

IA&A’s offices are located in the historic Dupont Circle neighborhood in Washington, DC. Following the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions, this Registrar will be expected to work regularly from the office several days a week when not traveling, taking all necessary health and safety precautions as then required.

Qualified applicants with experience should submit a cover letter and chronologically ordered resume in PDF format with the subject line “Registrar Position Submission”. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and only qualified applicants will be contacted. No phone calls or emails, please.

IA&A is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer that is committed to building a culturally diverse staff and strongly encourages applications from diverse candidates.
