Primary Responsibilities

The Advancement Associate will join our mission at a critical time of growth, as we build from our grassroots, volunteer-founded beginnings into a statewide resource and national model for Latino mental health. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of fundraising and communications activities and learn new skills to advance a career in nonprofit fundraising and advancement. In this position, you will:

  • Manage donor database and coordinate donor acknowledgements
  • Coordinate fundraising events and mailings
  • Collect and compile information and attachments for grant proposals and reports
  • Draft a portion of grant proposals and reports, fundraising letters, and communications materials
  • Support coordination of the grants calendar
  • Provide prospect research and qualification, and develop corporate prospect pipelines in this vibrant, corporate community
  • Interact directly with donors and prospective donors through written materials, phone calls, personal visits, and events
  • Cultivate relationships with an inspiring and compassionate community of board members, volunteers, donors, and prospective donors
  • Support social media, website, newsletters, and other communication tactics
  • Support growth in the advancement office infrastructure (develop standard operating procedures for new systems, etc.)
  • Support Board and Advancement committee meetings
  • Support all aspects of fundraising and communications for this growing effort

Qualifications & Skills

Required unless otherwise indicated

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 1-3 years of work experience in a professional environment, preferably in fundraising or communications
  • Strong communication skills and comfort interacting with a diverse array of people
  • Ability to plan and move projects forward
  • Bilingual English-Spanish preferred
