Description

Na’atik Language and Cultural Institute is looking for a qualified, enthusiastic, creative, independent and organized Headteacher who wants to make a real difference in an underserved community for the August 2018- July 2019 school year. Na’atik is a young, local, non-profit language institute located in the Yucatan Peninsula in the ‘authentic’ Mexican-Maya town of Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Quintana Roo (approximately 1-hour inland from Tulum). Na’atik offers accessible, high-quality English courses to increase access to education and opportunities in the Maya Zone. Our English language program is for primary school children, teenagers, and adults of all levels. The Headteacher role would split their time between the classroom and supporting the other teachers in partnership with the school’s Director. The Headteacher will be responsible for improving the curriculum and English language program as a whole including orientation for new teachers. The Headteacher would also play a leading role in managing special events and field trips throughout the year in which the staff organizes. This is a great position for an experienced teacher who wishes to advance their career to the next level while working off the beaten path, improving their Spanish, and learning about the culture of the modern Maya - and of course to work with many delightful students! Please check out our Facebook page and website to learn more about Na’atik. We also recommend looking at our blogs to learn more about life in our town.
