DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE, INSTITUTIONAL GIVING

WHAT THE DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE DOES:

 

The Development Associate will provide support and management of SEO’s foundation and corporate giving programs including: Management of SEO’s community grants program (grants in the $5,000-$25,000+range), prospect and donor research, developing the case of support for special projects including internal and external research, collection of outcomes management data, and development of narrative language.

 

  • Fundraising - Overseeing all aspects of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of community grants; providing general support to the Director in completing all grant proposals and funder reports; and monitoring and coordinating volunteer solicitor portfolios that include institutional donor contacts.
  • Revenue Processing - Gift entry, acknowledgments, batch/journal reports, oversight of institutional gift transmittals to Finance, and conducting monthly reconciliation reports.
  • Budgeting/Revenue Tracking - Maintaining revenue source reports, solicitation tracking reports and calendars, monitoring expense reports, producing funding analysis reports.
  • Research and Data management - Conducting prospect and donor research; creating and maintaining biographical information in CRM/database and profile reports; maintaining records in department database (Raiser’s Edge) and donor files.
  • General Office Management - Managing filing systems; maintaining calendars and meeting schedules; preparing mailings and general correspondence; fielding calls and taking/tracking RSVPs.
  • Writing – Operating under aggressive deadlines that require someone highly driven with clear, grammatical, and persuasive writing skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years prior fundraising work experience, preferably in institutional giving and grants preparation.
  • Experience and ease in working with multi-cultural, socio-economically and politically diverse populations.
  • Available to work occasional evenings and weekends.


EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years prior fundraising work experience, preferably in institutional giving and grants preparation.
  • Experience and ease in working with multi-cultural, socio-economically and politically diverse populations.
  • Available to work occasional evenings and weekends.

  • Strategic Thinking – Demonstrated critical thinking skills and organizational abilities.
  • Adept at using technology, including Microsoft Office suite and donor database systems.
  • Raiser’s Edge and/or Salesforce database experience preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic entrepreneurial environment.
