Job Summary: 

The Youth Program Advocate (and communication specialist) is responsible for developing media materials, newsletters and other agency collaterals in addition to overseeing media relations at events. In addition, this position will work with the Director of Trainings and Programs to facilitate internal and external trainings, plan and staff outreach events and all related duties pertaining to Jeneration J, Jenesse’s youth intervention and prevention program. This position reports to the Director of Trainings and Programs but will also interface with the Executive Director, Associate Director, and Director of External Affairs and Special Projects.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  •  Develop and assemble agency media/public relation packets for general use
  • Assist with all mass agency correspondence including letters, invitations and email communications
  • Assist in proposal writing
  • Develop and design quarterly agency newsletter
  • Develop and design agency brochures and booklets
  • Assist in creation of agency relevant educational materials
  • Author press releases for agency
  • Disseminate press releases to newspapers, radio stations, internet news sources and television
  • Assist in development and implementation of internal and external trainings
  • Assist in coordination of Jeneration J activities and media

Level of Language Proficiency

Requirements:

 

The Youth Program Advocate (and communication specialist) will have a minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and at least two years experience in creative writing. The proper candidate must demonstrate the ability to work independently and follow through on projects, as well as the ability to manage competing priorities and coordinate multiple projects. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills as well as knowledge of public relations. Must have highly proficient computer skills and must be a team player.
