JOB DESCRIPTION: HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGER

The TCUS is looking for a Human Resource Manager who will direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department, including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. This role will also provide administrative support to the Editor & GM.

Duties/Responsibilities:


Human Resources (75%)

●     Partners with the Director of Finance and Administration to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy, particularly related to current and future talent needs, recruiting, and retention.

●     Provides support and guidance to management and staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.

●     Manages the talent acquisition process, including recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants. Collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.

●     Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.

●     Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.

●     Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.


Executive Support (25%)

●     Completes a wide variety of administrative tasks for the Editor & GM, including managing an extremely active calendar of appointments; composing and preparing correspondence that is sometimes confidential; arranging complex and detailed travel plans, itineraries, and agendas; and compiling documents for travel-related meetings.

●     Researches prioritize and follow up on incoming issues, and concerns addressed to the Editor & GM, including those of a sensitive or confidential nature. Determines appropriate course of action, referral, or response.

Required Skills/Abilities:

●     Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

●     Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

●     Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

●     Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

●     Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

●     Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

●     Bachelor’s degree required, a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

●     A minimum of seven years of human resource management experience is preferred.
