JOB TYPE: Part Time (approx 25 hrs per wk)

JOB TITLE: Post-secondary Support Associate

SALARY: Commensurate with experience

ADDRESS: 16 Clarkson Street, NY, NY 10014

DESCRIPTION:

Comprehensive Youth Development (CYD) is a nonprofit organization that provides free academic, career readiness and social services to 3,500 New York City public high school students and alumni. CYD provides these services through a network of three partner schools: Manhattan Comprehensive Night & Day High School, The High School for Health Professions and Human Services, and City-As-School High School.

About City-As-School (CAS): City-As-School emphasizes freedom, trust and responsibility. It’s a place where students learn by doing; doing in their internships, doing in their class work, and doing on their own as they prepare their portfolios for graduation. Started in 1972 with 15 students and a staff of four, CAS has grown to a student body of 550, and a staff of 65 dedicated teachers and administrators located in the Greenwich Village section of the City of New York. Despite this growth, the school has maintained the same core values it had at its founding: open communication (all teachers and administrators are accessible to students), personal freedom (we don’t issue hall passes, there are no metal detectors and no violence in our halls), and personal accountability (students are responsible for getting to their placements on their own and for making up any days they miss regardless of the reason).
