GALvanize USA seeks a Data Manager. The Data Manager will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and day-to-day use of information in GALvanize USA’s data systems (VAN, EveryAction, Civis, G-Suite) and tools (Strive, CallHub, ThruText, and more). The Data Manager will provide technical support & training for fellow team members to support GALvanize USA’s programs, as well as prepare documents and reports. The Data Manager reports to the Director of Operations and works closely with the Director of External Relations, Campaign Director, Director of Organizing, and GALvanize Action staff on special projects related to voter modeling and mobilization.

Responsibilities and Tasks 

  • Create and run weekly reports for all aspects of campaigns and other program data
  • Provide technical support and training to staff on EveryAction & VAN to support canvassing, volunteer mobilization, organizing activities, evaluation, and special projects
  • Develop both technical and end-user documentation for data processes
  • Provide data analysis and reports as needed
  • Assist with the development of new systems and processes as needed
  • Manage data sharing agreements with affiliated entities
  • Schedule and implement regular data hygiene processes
  • All employees of Hopewell Fund are required to complete timesheets
  • Perform other duties as needed

Education and Experience:

  • 4-6 years previous political and/or organizing experience with a data lens
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with a team
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and training

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with CRMs, action management software, Google Sheets, and Excel required
  • Experience in Civis Platform and pulling data using SQL and other complex queries preferred
  • Experience in creating reports in Periscope or other software like Tableau preferred
  • Can work well in a remote team and able to manage and/or collaborate with staff and consultants with others
  • Is a self-starter and detail-oriented
  • Likes finding elegant solutions to complicated problems
  • Knows when to answer the question someone meant to ask rather than the one they did
  • Can manage several tasks/projects concurrently and prioritize work effectively
  • Commitment to understanding race, class, gender, and other equity issues as part of your work as well as the impact these structural issues have on our collective work environment
  • Occasional travel (dependent on COVID-19)

Valued and Non-Essential Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Ability 

  • Proficiency in EveryAction, VAN, ThruText, Strive, G Suite, Slack, Asana, and similar technology is ideal. The ability to independently master these and similar software is critical.
  • Experience as a political organizer strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of 501c3 and 501c4 compliance requirements.
