General Overview: At the Climate Reality Project, we come to work every day to help solve the climate crisis. We do it by working from the ground up, empowering people and communities worldwide to fight for their future and together drive a just transition to clean energy.

Volunteer engagement is a core component of this effort. Every day, we work with our Chapters and our volunteers in supporting their regional efforts through training and tools that help bring home the urgency of the crisis and inspire people everywhere to take action.

The Northeast Regional Organizer plays a critical role in this work and is responsible for supporting chapters across the northeast region of the United States, working with Chapter Chairs and Leadership Committee members to provide resources, trainings, and dedicated support. This position will work closely with Chapters running or interested in running Climate Reality campaigns, building tools for them to use and amplify amongst their Chapter membership, helping to train organizers, and generally acting as a personal point of contact for engaged volunteers. As a representative of the Engagement team, this position also assists in efforts to meet strategic program and organizational goals through outreach and partnership-building with new constituencies, building strong relationships within this region. States served in this region include West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, and the District of Columbia.

As this job is regionally based, the postion could be based in DC, MA, MD ME, PA or NY. All interested candidates from those states should apply.


Duties and Responsibilities

In this role, you will work in two primary areas.

Chapter Support (65%) Includes:

  • Working with the Chapters team to recruit, onboard, and support new Climate Reality chapters.
  • Providing on-going support, follow up, and leadership development to chapters.
  • Conducting monthly one-on-one calls with chapter chairs to build lasting relationships with them as their point person on staff and helping to lead monthly national leadership calls.
  • Facilitating meet-ups and retreats between regional chapters to foster peer learning and development.
  • Training Climate Reality chapters on campaigns and organizing skills through developing Chapter Training Series curriculum content and acting as a skill trainer for webinars and in-person training events.
  • Building organizational storytelling capacity by compiling chapter narratives, accomplishments, and photos to share with both internal and external audiences.
  • Adhering and contributing to strong data management practices and program metrics.


Campaign Support (35%) Includes:

  • Serving as a resource for your chapters and the organization on regionally relevant issues and campaigns.
  • Building and maintaining regional partnerships and identifying strategic coalition spaces for Climate Reality and our chapters to join.
  • Supporting chapters as they run Climate Reality campaigns like 100% Committed™, with support from the Campaign Strategist and Chapter Engagement Manager.
  • Supporting the creation and implementation of chapter-specific campaign plans by providing feedback on plans and coaching through prioritization of actions to create impact.
  • Tracking the progress of chapter-led campaigns and chapter development in coordination with the Chapters Team.
  • Adhering and contributing to strong data management practices and program metrics.

Qualifications

You’d be great for this role if:

  • You have 2+ years of organizing, campaign, advocacy or volunteer engagement experience.
  • You have experience with state and local legislative advocacy efforts, which would be helpful.
  •  You have strong organizational, written and verbal communications skills.
  • You are able to manage deadlines and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • You possess a sense of urgency and good time management skills.
  • You have experience and awareness of cultural diversity and love the idea of working effectively with a diverse group of organizations and volunteers.
  •  You care deeply about both climate change and environmental justice and want to work to solve the climate crisis and create a healthy and equitable future for all.
  •  You have proficiency with Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • You have previous CRM experience.

  • Salary range is $40,000-$45,000 and will be determined based on experience.
  • Excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision and life insurance, 401(k) with no vesting period and a company match, mobile phone reimbursement, 13 paid annual holidays plus the office closes with pay for full-time employees during our holiday break from Christmas Eve through New Year’s Day .
