THE ORGANIZATION:

Operation Access is a nonprofit organization that enables medical providers to donate outpatient surgical procedures and diagnostic services to people in need. We advance health care equity for people facing barriers to care. Founded in 1993, we work with a large network of partners to serve patients in a growing number of Northern California counties through remote work connected to our San Francisco office.


JOB OVERVIEW:

The Valley Regional Director is a new position, created as the 18-staff organization grows from a 9-county service footprint in the greater San Francisco Bay Area to an expanded service area in a 24-county region of Northern California. The Valley Regional Director will develop and implement an expansion strategy in the Central Valley region spanning from Shasta to Kings county (“Valley”) in coordination with a team of Program Managers who are leading expansion efforts in specific counties. It is preferred that the candidate be based in the Valley and will be able to work remotely.


The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial leader with a proven ability to manage a growing organization and an eye for the continuous improvement of organizational systems and processes. They will have a deep commitment to serving underserved communities and the ability to advance new organizational relationships with Valley healthcare stakeholders and community organizations. Finally, they will have a passion for inspiring, developing, and empowering teams. The organizational culture is rooted in collaboration and distributed leadership.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:


Program Development and Growth

·      Develop and execute an outreach plan for developing capacity for donated care through partnerships in counties where Operation Access is committed to expansion (Colusa, Butte, Glenn, Yuba, Sutter, Shasta, Tehama, Kings, and Madera counties) and for assessing needs, raising funds, and developing partnerships in additional counties where community need and potential service capacity are evident (e.g., San Joaquin, Fresno counties).

·      Oversee expansion activities, monitor progress toward internal benchmarks and external deliverables in our multi-year grant to expand services throughout 15 new CMSP counties.

·      Supervise staff who are managing a combination of expansion work and ongoing programs.

·      Collaborate with Operation Access staff to recruit physician volunteers, health system partners, and referring community clinics in the Valley.

·      Support the organization’s core work of care coordination and medical volunteer recruitment and engagement.


Organizational Support

·      Initiate and strengthen relationships with various funders and funding prospects, including institutional, corporate, and other donors to increase and broaden funding support.

·      Collaborate on grant writing, budgets, and reporting.

·      Collaborate with CEO to support Board of Directors engagement at Board meetings, Expansion Advisory Committee meetings, and in between meetings, and to recruit new Board members.

·      Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across the organization.

·      Collaborate on the development of communications materials, messages, and strategies.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·      Bachelor’s degree

·      At least 3 years of senior-level managerial work experience in health care or related field

·      Experience working with physicians, health systems, community clinics, and community organizations in the Valley

·      Experience supervising staff (setting goals and deadlines, monitoring employee productivity, providing constructive feedback, coaching, etc.)

·      Commitment to leadership practices that encourage collaborative and effective leadership across the entire team

·      Demonstrated skills utilizing emotional intelligence to cultivate colleague and stakeholder relationships

·      Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

·      Highly proficient in project management and agile team communication utilizing Microsoft Teams and Smartsheet platforms

·      Self-motivated, entrepreneurial, learning mindset

·      Experience addressing conflict in a constructive manner that respects diverse perspectives

·      Superior organizational skills and attention to detail

·      Excellent written and oral communication skills; skilled at public speaking

·      Able to work some evenings and weekends, as needed

·      Able to travel to meetings throughout Operation Access’s service area, as needed / permitted by COVID


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·      Fluency in Spanish and English strongly preferred

·      Master’s degree preferred

·      Experience implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion practices

·      Experience in fundraising and donor cultivation

·      Experience in budgeting and financial management

·      Experience working with a Board of Directors

·      Experience with Salesforce

·      Experience or interest in communications and building operational systems

·      AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, & other national service alumni encouraged to apply
