The New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault (the Alliance) spearheads state as well as citywide efforts to prevent sexual assault and to ensure that all survivors of sexual assault have access to the best acute and long-term care. Our mission is to prevent sexual violence and reduce the harm it causes through education, research and advocacy.

The Alliance is offering an exciting leadership finance position in a growing, mission oriented organization. The Director/Sr. Manager of Finance will be responsible for the planning, organization and supervision of finance & accounting related functions for the organization, including general accounting, accounts receivable/collection, payroll, risk management policy development, cash management, budget, audit preparation, forecasting revenues and expenditures, grants management and accounting-related contract compliance. Overall this role will provide a protection of the organizations assets by establishing, monitoring and enforcing internal financial and operational controls as well as monitoring cash flow and financial transactions. This position is supported by an out-sourced finance team and an in-house staff of 1.5 (full-time equivalent).   

This Director/Sr. Manager of Finance will report to Senior Alliance staff and will play a significant role in the implementation and oversight of various financial operations requiring complex and cross-functional coordination. The Director/Senior Manager of Finance will maintain working relationships with colleagues across the organization engaged in program and development work, ensuring appropriate processes are in place to accurately and compliantly support their program operations & administration. The Director of Finance will be the contact for all audit and accounting related activities and the point-of-contact for the organization’s Board Treasurer and Finance Committee. Specific duties will include:

Budget and Contract direction in the following areas:

·        Contracting processes and complying with budgeting requirements of our funding sources;

·        Interfacing with accounting firm to ensure smooth operation of finance unit;

·        In-house financial records and processes;

·        Cash flow tracking methods;

·        Payroll processing and employee benefits;

·        Organization’s process to develop budgets for existing contracts and grant proposals by working with program and development team;

·        Working with the Executive Director to develop annual agency-wide budget;

·        Cash flow predictions.

Operations/ Human Resource Oversight:

·           Oversee agency operations including: organization and tracking of vendors, payments and bids for services, and ensuring the smooth operation of office functions;

·           Ensure that the Alliance is in compliance with all federal IRS, state and city requirements;

·           Develop written policies concerning finance and administration as needed;

·           Contribute to the maintenance and stream-lining of fiscal and administrative systems;

·           Ensure the maintenance of clear and organized electronic and hardcopy records;

·           Direct the production of documents for annual independent audit.

Qualifications:  An ideal candidate for this role will have:

·           Financial analysis, planning and accounting training and experience. 3-5 years of experience with an advanced degree preferred (MBA or MPA with financial analysis concentration);

·           Proven ability to lead and supervise staff and consultants;

·           Proven ability to work in a multi-racial environment, and commitment to social justice practice as well as good interpersonal, communications and organizational skills required.

·           Capacity to constructively problem-solve and work in a stimulating and evolving environment.
