CAST is a non-profit R&D organization that has earned international recognition for its development of innovative, technology-based educational resources and strategies. CAST's work is inspired and informed by the learners who often get pushed aside in traditional education settings. We are looking for someone who is passionate about education, with an appreciation of the variability of learners and the agility to deal with any kind of technology with a can-do attitude.
We are seeking an experienced software developer to help create web- and mobile-based, multimedia educational research prototypes and products. You would be working in a small, collaborative team of scientists, teachers, designers, and programmers on projects that push the boundaries of educational research, practice, and technology.
Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience building significant web applications. We would like to see experience with one or more of the following: Java, Apache Wicket, Hibernate, SQL databases, mobile app development, HTML & CSS, EPub. An understanding of accessibility is a big plus, as is experience with scientific data analysis and related tools, and a master’s degree in a technical field.
You should be comfortable working in a small team using Agile methodologies, where key skills include flexibility, fast learning, clear communication, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Interest and experience in the educational and/or research fields would be very helpful.
