Schedule:     Full-Time

POSITION SUMMARY   

Transgender Law Center’s Organizing Program Associate will work at the heart of a movement of transgender people and allies, collaborating to change laws, policies, and attitudes to ensure that we can all live as our authentic selves. 

Transgender Law Center works to change law, policy, and attitudes so that all people can live safely, authentically, and free from discrimination regardless of their gender identity or expression. We are looking for an energetic, motivated, and mission-oriented Organizing Program Associate to support our policy and organizing projects. The projects include TLC’s Black LGBTQ Migrant Project, Disability Justice, TRUTH, TLC@SONG, Black Trans Circles, and National TGNC Coalition and our national training institutes and policy advocacy. The Program Associate will join a team of passionate, smart, and dedicated individuals who work hard, laugh easily, and are eager to learn and grow together as we change the world. This position reports to the Director of Policy and Programs and work closely with our national organizing and policy team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

·   Coordinate travel and logistics (meals, lodging, ground travel, and other needs) for national, regional and local convenings;

·    Communicate with convening attendees regarding travel and logistics as needed;

·   Coordinate departments data, tracking;

·   Maintain program records, including expenses and grant reporting deadlines, and stakeholder contact information;

·   Work closely with national organizing team to ensure outreach and continued engagement with project participants;

·   Assist Department Director in scheduling meetings and monthly expenses

·   Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

 ·   Experience working in teams with people from a variety of racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, educational, religious, sexual, gender, and generational backgrounds. 

·   A demonstrated commitment to a broad range of social, racial, disability and economic justice issues and an understanding of the multiple communities TLC represents.

·   Willingness and ability to travel nationally

·   Experience coordinating event logistics and travel

·   Experience with grant reporting and monthly expenses

·   Experience with databases and tracking

·   Experience with community organizing and policy advocacy 

·   Detail oriented

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

 ·   Proficiency in a language other than English.
