WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

The Nature Conservancy recognizes the critical role of investments, corporate practices, and markets in solving the dual crises of climate change and biodiversity loss. The Conservancy has established the Impact Finance & Markets division, bringing together talent from across the organization to shape direction of investment, corporate practices, and markets around the world. The Impact Finance & Markets Executive Assistant will be responsible for providing a high standard of direct administrative support for TNC’s Impact Finance & Markets Division, primarily working with the Sustainable Debt and Carbon Markets teams. The Executive Assistant reports to the Deputy Director, Impact Finance & Markets. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The IFM Executive Assistant will be responsible for a variety of administrative support tasks including calendar management, drafting correspondence, processing expenses, domestic and international travel arrangements, file management, keeping project management systems up to date, note taking, event tracking, maintaining email lists, and coordinating meetings and special events logistics. They will gain broad knowledge of organizational policies and procedures and implement tools and practices to improve efficiency. They will, at times, communicate on behalf of the Impact Finance & Markets Leadership Team and will have contact with stakeholders, including Nature Conservancy Executive Leadership Team members and their administrative partners, donors, vendors, and corporate partners. 

The Executive Assistant performs administrative functions for the leads for the Sustainable Debt and Carbon Markets teams, which are sub-teams within the broader Impact Finance and Markets Division. They have approximately 10 individuals per team located throughout the United States, South America, and Europe. The Executive Assistant will work in collaboration with three other executive assistants in the Impact Finance & Markets Division. They must be proficient in Outlook and familiar with scheduling and running video conferences. Experience working with senior leadership and C-Suite level executives will be beneficial. We are a results-oriented team who values a collaborative, inclusive approach and encourages innovative ideas and solutions. 

This position may be located in Arlington, Virginia with expectations of working in-office 2x per week. Must be eligible to work in the United States- no relocation, visa or immigration assistance provided.

Salary range is $63,000-$67,000 based on experience.


RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE

  • Act independently on assigned tasks and exercise independent judgment based on analysis and experience; work is diversified and may not always fall under established practices and guidelines;
  • Work within scope of program’s strategic goals;
  • Coordinate projects with several variables, work within a defined timeline and budget;
  • Demonstrate sensitivity in handling confidential information;
  • Perform non-routine analysis, research and follow-through; 
  • Ensure compliance with Conservancy policies and procedures, and external (donor/legal/IRS) requirements;
  • Make purchases, process invoices, contract with vendors, and assist with budget preparation;
  • May act as a resource to others to solve problems and act in supervisor’s stead when instructed;
  • May supervise administrative and/or volunteer staff, including training and professional development;
  • Provide input through project teams for the improvement of existing programs;
  • Travel and work flexible hours; and 
  • Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years’ experience or equivalent combination;
  • Experience generating reports and interpreting data;
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and meeting time-sensitive deadlines;
  • Experience with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and virtual meeting software;
  • Demonstrated team player who works and communicates effectively across different cultures in a collaborative organization;
  • Fluency in English.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experiences are appreciated;
  • Ability to analyze information for the purpose of coordinating and planning activities, and solving problems;
  • Experience interpreting guidelines to achieve desired results;
  • Strong organization skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
