Job Description

Westchester Residential Opportunities, Inc., an expanding nonprofit organization in White Plains, NY, is seeking a Controller. The Controller will be responsible for of all accounting and financial functions within the organization, and will report directly to the Executive Director. The Controller will be a part of a team that has a strong connected work culture and is interdisciplinary. The Controller must provide a timely, high-quality and accurate work product.


Responsibilities

·        Financial Statements (monthly, annual, audit).

·        Tax filings (990, Char500).

·        CFR filings (NYS OMH grant reporting).

·        Review, allocation and reconciling of AP expenses & revenues across 20+ grants.

·        Budgeting & projections (annual, monthly, grant-based).

·        Financial components of grant applications and reporting.

·        Lease management (we manage 50+ rental properties).

·        Bank account reconciliations.

·        Preparation of semi-monthly employee time sheets.

·        Act as key liaison to outside auditors.

·        Preparation of work papers supporting the monthly close process and month end account balances.

·        Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective internal controls.

·        Constant improvement of internal accounting policies and practices.

·        Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations.

·        Such other duties as are requested by the Executive Director


Qualifications

·        Bachelors in Accounting and/or related degree.

·        5+ years’ experience in the accounting and finance sector.

·        Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely manner.

·        Responsive team player with ability to quickly prioritize among numerous pressing tasks.

·        Task and goal oriented and capable of functioning in an entrepreneurial and corporate setting.

·        Knowledge of FUND E-Z software.


Preferred

·        Prior finance experience within the nonprofit sector.

·        Prior CFR experience.

·        Exceptional Microsoft Office skills, specifically Excel.
