Description

The Peggy Albrecht Friendly House is seeking a Development Manager to lead the implementation of a newly created development and marketing plan to increase donor engagement and raise visibility of the organization to secure foundation, corporate and individual giving.

 

Celebrating sixty-seven years of providing Treatment services to women seeking recovery from alcohol and other substance abuse disorders; The Peggy Albrecht Friendly House was recently awarded JCAHO accreditation, allowing it to expand its services to offer a full range of treatment and detox options. With a current operating budget of almost $1,200,000 the organization is poised for growth and enhanced services.

 

Reporting directly to the Executive Director the Development Manager will have the opportunity to create systems, processes and programs that are designed to speak to current and future supporters of the amazing and effective work of the organization. The Development Manager will also partner with an engaged Board of Directors to ensure success in securing funding and support.

 

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY

 

 The Development Manager is responsible for implementing and/or overseeing all development efforts of the organization inclusive of annual giving program, digital marketing campaigns, production of fundraising events, individual donor stewardship, grant writing, database management, corporate stewardship and special projects. Willing and able to work some early morning, evenings and/or weekends for meetings, programs and special events.

 

 

DUTIES INCLUDE

 

DONOR DEVELOPMENT

·        Develops annual giving program, with a focus on sustaining gifts, including executing all direct mail appeals.

·        Develops appropriate acknowledgement, fundraising reports, and analysis of results of appeals.

·        Working with the Executive Director identify a portfolio of major gift donors for her. Ensure proper major donor stewardship, including regular communications from Executive Director, opportunities to engage with Friendly House and acknowledgements.

 

GRANT MANAGEMENT

·        Oversee the work of the grant writing consultant. Manage the annual grant calendar, developing timelines and ensuring the timely submissions of grants, letters of intent, requests for qualification, and reports.

 

MARKETING

·        Working with the digital marketing consultant create a comprehensive marketing calendar; encompassing blog posts, email marketing and social media campaigns.

·        Ensure all agency communications align with campaign goals.

·        Define marketing metrics and benchmarks and tracks progress on a regular basis.

 

 SPECIAL EVENTS

·        Oversees the production and execution of fundraising events, supporting the Board of Directors, event committees and Executive Director in the short and long-term planning of annual luncheon, and other events. 

·        Recruits and supervises event volunteers, ensuring organized support leading up to and inclusive of the day of the event as needed.

·        Participates in the oversight of the event committee, supporting the acquisition and procurement of silent auction donations.

 

 

 

OTHER RESPONSIBIITIES

·        Supervise the entering, managing, analyzing, and reporting information within the donor database, including the successful implementation of E-Tapestry to maximize donor support.

·        Represent Friendly House by periodically conducting tours of Friendly House to donors, prospects, and other stakeholders.

·        Attend external events as a representative of Friendly House, and periodically give presentations on behalf of Friendly House.

·        Liaise with existing and new corporate partners and local businesses.

·        Organize donor meetings, site visits, and events.

·        Provide donor prospecting/research as required.

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

·        Minimum of three years of experience in direct nonprofit fundraising, preferably in the Southern California area.

·        Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a wide range of audiences.

·        Significant organizational skills, with outstanding attention to details.

·        Previous experience working with volunteers and Board members.

·        Understanding of basic marketing strategies.

·        Demonstrated fundraising success of annual and sustainer programs.

·        Demonstrated success in procuring individual gifts and building creative and mutually beneficial partnerships within the nonprofit and corporate sectors.

·        Experience with CRM, E-Tapestry highly desired

·        Experience managing outside consultants and vendors.

·        Previous grant writing experience desired.

·        Computer literate in database management, internet search techniques and Microsoft office.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

 

·        Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent years of education and experience.

·        Computer literate in database management, internet search techniques and Microsoft office.

·        Understanding of Friendly House’s mission and the ability to work with diverse donor constituencies.

·        Experience in a nonprofit environment and understanding of the recovery community

·        Excellent interpersonal skills and a self-starter attitude

·        Excellent work ethic, a positive demeanor, and a sense of humor.

·        Willing and able to work some early morning, evenings and/or weekends for meetings, programs and special events.

·        Must have valid California driver’s license and automobile available for use during work hours.

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position mostly operates in a shared workspace office environment in Mid-City Los Angeles, CA. In addition, this position may include work at outdoor and off-site events or driving vehicles for programmatic needs. It requires regular use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. This position may occasionally require lifting or moving up to 30 pounds.

The salary for this position is competitive based on the annual operating budget and depends on prior experience. Full medical benefits after six months, two weeks paid vacation, after one year ALL holidays are paid.
