Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago is seeking an experienced individual to join our Implementation Collaborative team. The Implementation Collaborative team consists of national public and private child welfare experts dedicated to collaborating with child welfare agency leadership to integrate the best available evidence into system transformation strategies designed to achieve agency goals and create positive change and improved outcomes for vulnerable children and families. The team works across five interconnected domains of capacity building and systems change, including: data analytics and evidence use; child welfare agency leadership, governance and strategy; practice and implementation; policy and fiscal alignment; and continuous quality improvement in multiple jurisdictions across the country.  


The Project Associate’s main contributions are anticipated to include data presentation and visualization, preparation of reports and other technical documents, and coordinating communications and project activities. The individual will also conduct thorough and critical reviews of relevant literature; assist in scheduling team meetings; take comprehensive notes of all activities and assume the lead in preparing quarterly reports; and assist with proofing, formatting and creating dynamic visual representations.


The position will report directly to Policy Fellow Jennifer O’Brien.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


The primary responsibilities of the position are as follows:

  • Manages competing priorities and requests from multiple team members.
  • Works collegiality and collaboratively with colleagues across policy, research, and administration to share information, responsibility and resources.
  • Assesses each situation and each person to develop appropriate rapport/approach.
  • Proactively communicates to project team members regarding status of work.
  • Creates data visualizations, writes quarterly reports, and assists with report production activities, including writing, proofing, formatting, and creating tables.
  • Creates, and maintains Share Point sites and other project management tools.
  • Conducts thorough and critical reviews of relevant literature.
  • May coordinate administrative functions and logistics of project-related meetings with key external partners, funding and policy stakeholders.
  • Provides support in developing meeting materials.
  • Develops and refines PowerPoint presentations and other presentation materials and handouts.


QUALIFICATIONS


Education

Master’s degree in sociology, public policy, psychology or another relevant field OR a relevant bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of three years of relevant experience required. 


Experience & Other Qualifications

  • Has strong writing skills with an emphasis on plain language and evidence translation.
  • Experience with communicating on digital platforms (websites, social media) is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience with Share Point, all Microsoft Office tools, as well as other project management tools.
  • Experience working with and supporting large teams.
  • Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail with good organization skills required.
  • Ability to translate and convey complex concepts in oral and written communications required.
  • Demonstrated capacity for working in a collaborative policy or research environment required.
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative required.
  • Problem-solving skills required.
  • Ability to manage multiple, concurrent tasks required.
  • Ability to ask for guidance and assistance when prioritizing.
  • Demonstrated judgment and discretion in the handling of sensitive information required.
