The 29th Street Community Center, Inc., a nonprofit organization, is seeking a STEAM & Operations Coordinator to join the team at the 29th Street Community Center (300 E. 29th Street, Baltimore, MD

21218.)

Requirements:

●      Must be a resident of Baltimore City

●    Working on-site requires being fully vaccinated within 6 weeks of start date (participate in twice a week testing until fully vaccinated)

Position Description: 

The STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) & Operations Coordinator will plan and coordinate all STEAM related activities for the 29th Street Community Center, as well as aid in the monitoring of the building and building operations. The STEAM & Operations Coordinator will report directly to the Community Programming & Facilities Manager but will work closely with the Director, the Youth Programs Manager, and Youth Mentors.

The STEAM & Operations Coordinator will have past experience working with youth, have technical proficiency, be a creative thinker, and possess a strong understanding of Baltimore City, the 29th Street Community Center, and the community we serve. The expected schedule (potential to change in 2022) for the STEAM & Operations Coordinator is Monday, Wednesday, Friday (2:30-6:30 PM), and Tuesday-Thursday (3:30-7:30 PM).

Essential Job Duties / Responsibilities:

●     Design and implement the initial STEAM Program planning process with input from community members.

●     Aid in outreach and promoting new STEAM programming with community members.

●     Research best practices in STEAM and develop community partnerships in the execution of STEAM programming.

●     Rollout and implement creative STEAM programming in the community center.

●     Ensure activities have the necessary supplies for program and activity participants.

●     Teach STEAM curriculum to staff at the center.

●     Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.

●     Monitor building flow of individuals who are coming and out of the Center to ensure safety during operational hours.

●     Monitor contact information for program participants and event attendees, including sign-in and sign-out processes, as well as proper registration procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Minimum Qualifications

●     Bachelor’s degree or working towards Bachelor’s Degree preferred, not required. We will also consider transferable skills sets and life experience for candidates that are able to communicate the passion and value they would bring.

●     Minimum of 2-4 years teaching experience preferred in either the sciences, technology and/or the arts, with a strong personal interest and exposure to all three areas, and the desire and skill to integrate across various disciplines.

●     Experience working with youth.

●     Strong interpersonal skills.

●     Strong verbal and written communication skills.

●     Proven organizational skills.

●     Flexible demeanor and proven ability to work on a team.

Compensation: The position pays $17-$20 hourly.
