Organizational Overview:

Waterside Workshops provides job-training, outdoor recreation, and wraparound holistic support for Bay Area youth while offering services to the community including a bicycle shop and repair facility, a wooden boat building shop, bicycle and boat rentals, and a youth-run coffee shop.


Role Overview:

We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, and organized individual to grow and manage our café and youth barista training program. The Café Program Manager will manage all operations of a small café and snack bar. In addition, the candidate will train and manage youth job-training interns. The ideal candidate will have prior café/food service experience along with experience directly working with youth in an educational setting. This position reports to the Executive Director.


Essential Job Functions:

Café Management

·      Provide great customer service and quality espresso-based drinks to diverse clientele

·      Follow health department guideline for food handling and preparation

·      Maintain a professional and cleanly appearance

·      Keep the café clean and up to Health Department Standards at all times

·      Keep storage and utility closets organized

·      Make sure the courtyard stays properly organized and seating is clean

·      Maintains inventory and orders food and café supplies as needed

·      Identify and implement strategies to grow customer base

·      Assist with boat rental operations


Job Training Program Management

·      Schedules and manages daily youth job training interns

·      Teach professional barista and food service skills to youth interns

·      Teach important “soft skills” (timeliness, communication, teamwork, etc.)


Qualifications:

·      Prior food service or café management experience

·      Prior experience in a youth educational setting

·      Food handlers card

·      Ability to lift up to 35 pounds

·      Strong organizational and time-management skills

·      Excellent interpersonal and relational skills

·      Ability to work independently and collaboratively

·      Able to handle and prioritize multiple tasks at once

·      Superior analytical and problem-solving skills

·      High level of attention to detail and follow through

·      Is hard-working, flexible, and patient

·      Passion for the mission of Waterside Workshops


Compensation:

Hourly pay range $22-25/hour DOE. Full-time positions are eligible for generous benefits, including:

·      Medical and Dental insurance

·      10 days of paid vacation (increases with length of tenure)

·      5 paid holidays, plus a paid holiday recess from 12/25–1/1

·      6 days of paid sick leave per year

·      Casual dress code
