Grants Management Officer Position Description


The Grants Management Officer provides high-level donor and grant stewardship to assist donor-clients with their philanthropic goals. The Officer’s responsibilities include: assisting fund holders in managing international and domestic grant-making programs, maintaining knowledge of global regulations and laws affecting grant making and administering the charity vetting cycle.

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Donor Advised Services (60%):


  • Manage a portfolio of small and medium donor-advised funds and provide an array of philanthropic advisory services;
  • Coordinate the execution of service delivery of various advisory contracts and projects;
  • Provide a high level of service delivery and maintain ongoing communication with fund holders to include reporting;
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all clients and donors;
  • Provide services that will assist donors with their strategic grant-making, philanthropy planning, investing charitable assets, and administering grantmaking;
  • Work closely with Business Development to participate in prospecting calls when needed and travel to client meetings and conferences (0-5% travel time required).


Grants Administration (25%):


  • Review grantee applications and reports in conjunction with CAF America policies and US laws;
  • Manage the charity application process for high-level grantees when required;
  • Serve as a final reviewer for grant applications;
  • Assist in the maintenance of databases and grants management systems that assist with charity vetting and grant processing;
  • Maintain knowledge of regulations and laws affecting grantmaking. Ensure that charity vetting and grantmaking provides and monitors the appropriate documentation to meet expenditure responsibility and/or equivalency determination protocol;
  • Assist the Senior Director and Assistant Directors of Donor Advised and Grant Services with various high-level projects relating to CAF America’s grant-making and internal processes;


Management Responsibilities (15%):


  • Manage a small team of 1-2 Grants Associates responsible for working with grantees and assisting Grants Officers with administrative tasks related to fund management;


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, higher education experience preferred;
  • 2-3 years donor-advised fund and/or grantmaking experience preferred;
  • Interest or experience in working in international philanthropy, grant-making, and the nonprofit sector;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team, exercise sound judgment, and work with minimal Supervision;
  • Ability to work and prioritize in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment;
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills;
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
  • Experience with grants management and CRM systems preferred.


Reporting

The Grants Management Officer reports to the Sr. Director of Donor Advised and Grants Services
