Background

Firm Foundations Youth Home (FFYH) is a faith-based organization that was founded in 2004.  Gigi's Cottage, FFYH's first foster home, is a group home for girls ages 7-17 in Arizona's foster care system. This home offers a safe and family-like setting for up to nine girls.  FFYH's congregate care services are based on Trust Based Relational Healing (TBRI) and Grace Based Parenting  to help kids heal in safe and trusting relationships where they experience grace and connection in a home environment. FFYH collaboratives with Scottsdale Bible Church (SBC) for comprehensive support encompassing administrative, financial, and operational assistance.


About The Job

The House Supervisor (HS) oversees the day-to-day operations of FFYH and Gigi’s Cottage, including monitoring the quality of care provided to each child, directly managing all staff members, The FFYH HS drives excellence for all children and team members.

The HS has a commitment to empowering others to solve problems and a belief that a nurturing family is the ideal environment for a person, and that people have the capacity to grow and change. The HS develops respectful relationships with people served, helping them gain skills and confidence. The HS works collaboratively with coworkers, volunteers, other professionals, and service providers for the complete care of the girls at Gigi’s Cottage. The HS helps as necessary and intervenes appropriately to meet service goals, and set appropriate limits.


Responsibilities

• Staff Supervision and Development: Directly supervises the staff. Build and maintain morale, thus creating an atmosphere of problem-solving and learning. Facilitates regular feedback through weekly supervision and 1-on-1s, growth opportunities, and a structure for ongoing communication and collaboration. The HS facilitates and monitors staff for all compliance procedures. Conduct and attend meetings and trainings, ensuring objectives and behavior programs are on schedule.

• Training: Complete and maintain documentation for all training requirements in a timely manner. Source, manage, and ensure that staff are appropriately trained, are current in all required training, and that all employee personnel files include documentation of training.

• Administrative: Create, manage, ensure adequate staffing levels and ensure an appropriate Staff-child ratio is always maintained. Approve timecards and supervise and approve staff spending. Oversee maintenance of records and files and Inputs program data. Collaborates with House Lead to ensure an appropriate supply of medication is always available. Complete pharmacy reorder form as needed and send to clinical services director weekly. Be familiar with and follow policies and procedures; maintain documentation and submit paperwork in a timely manner; protect and preserve operations by following HIPAA guidelines and maintaining confidentiality as appropriate. Reports any maintenance, repair, furnishings, and security concerns to the appropriate department in a timely manner. Ensures staff complete documentation to record daily activities, incidents, behaviors, health concerns, meals, home maintenance concerns, vehicle problems, etc. Address staff calls after hours, replacing staff and covering shifts as needed.

• Collaboration with House Leads: Work with House Leads for orientation of new staff and partner with the ED on performance management in accordance with GGC policies and procedures. Plan and execute monthly meetings with House Lead to determine upcoming activities, changes, and common issues through facilitated joint discussion and problem-solving. Ensure that all children are provided and attend age-appropriate life-skills programming, mindfulness programming, and any other programming that they may need. 

• Collaboration with Program Director: Plan and execute monthly meetings with Program Director to ensure that all community partnerships are solidified, and the appropriate connections are made for children who are aging out. Ensure that all programming is implemented as designed by the PD. Plan and execute monthly meetings with Program Director to determine upcoming activities, changes, and common issues through facilitated joint discussion and problem-solving.

• Collaboration with Executive Director: Annual performance reviews with Executive Director for Staff and 90-day reviews for new Staff. Working with the Executive Director for Staff engagement, development, and retention. Alongside Executive Director, complete required duties for contracted partners. 

• Interaction with children and families: Assist to carry out child’s development and support services plans and goals; Oversees food and dietary programs, including menu planning, consultation with dietician, completion of program records, purchasing of food items are carried out by the HL. Completes monthly supply inventory; may accompany person(s) to health care appointments. Ensures that all children are completing life-skills courses and programming. Empower children to make informed decisions, facilitate inclusion in community experiences and activities, and promote independence in daily activities such as work, learning, and leisure. Along with House Lead, administer or supervise self-administration of medication. Assist in providing resources and proper points of contact that will be needed in the future for children who are aging out of the system. 

• Volunteer Coordination: Partner with the ED and PD on vetting volunteers and guiding them through the State approval process.

• Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.


Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in early childhood, Social Work, or equivalent preferred not necessary.

• Must be at least 21 years of age.

• 2-3 years childcare experience preferred.

• 1-year supervisory/management experience, preferably in a group home setting. 

• Understanding of group home license and accreditation preferred.

• Ability to interact with children with sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

• Knowledge/willing to learn Trauma Informed Care and Grace Based Parenting models

• Must be able to obtain Class One Fingerprint Clearance Card immediately upon hire. 

• A Valid AZ Driver’s license in good standing and no more than 3 points

• Must have prior experience completing performance appraisals, facilitating disciplinary processes, providing coaching/feedback and interview/selection of candidates.

• Must be able to display verbal and written communication skills that meet the requirements of the position and needs of clients.

• Able to demonstrate strong healthy boundaries, values and role modeling

• The employee must be able to navigate stairs and lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, sometimes lifting above head.

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
