The Events and Operations Manager is primarily responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Evening MBA and Weekend MBA Student Life, Academic Services, and Admissions teams. The manager will provide direct support and engagement with various populations via email, phone calls, and in-person, as well as coordinating front desk and event operations. This role utilizes a working knowledge of the MBA programs and its various departments to serve as the primary representative of Student Life, Academic Services, and Admissions to those visiting the MBA program office at the Gleacher Center. This role also assists in the daily administrative functions of the office, including assessing, implementing, and managing the office supply needs and physical space, assisting with travel, and event planning.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide primary administrative and project management support to the Student Life, Academic Services, and Admissions departments and maintains accountability on assigned tasks.
  2. Coordinates event logistics for Student Life, Academic Services, and Admissions events, assists in planning, and executes preparation including, but not limited to, compiling marketing materials, printing relevant materials, and conducting event follow up with attendees.
  3. Manages the visitor/guest engagement experience through in-person by providing front desk coverage (opening/closing the office; maintaining presence at the front desk), phone, and email contact. Responsible for evaluating and improving the experience based on feedback and insights.
  4. Assists Admissions and Student Life departments with the development of the budget. May monitor and reconcile accounts and assist with tracking event expenses and processing invoices and payments with accounting.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Bachelor’s degree required.
  2. A minimum of two years of progressively responsible administrative experience required, higher education setting preferred.
  3. Ability to work Monday-Friday 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. plus occasional extended hours required (Any occasional weekend hours would be communicated in advance.)
  4. A resume and cover letter required to be considered for the position.
  5. Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required.
  6. Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills, as well as organizational skills required.
  7. Proven organizational aptitude, attention to detail, and project management required. 
  8. Ability to handle multiple detailed tasks/projects simultaneously, set priorities and streamline projects and processes, while meeting strict deadlines with frequent interruptions required.
  9. Professional demeanor, including tact, discretion, and a customer service-oriented approach required.
