Colorado Legal Services is the sole statewide provider of free civil legal services to low-income and senior individuals in Colorado. Our Colorado Springs office is seeking a dynamic and experienced attorney to supervise staff work on housing cases throughout southern Colorado. This position is currently funded for one year, though CLS is seeking additional funding to make this a long-term opportunity.

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Maintain an active caseload; 
  • Supervise the legal work of the unit, including legislative and administrative advocacy; 
  • Assist in staff training, professional development, and performance evaluation; 
  • Engage in strategic planning and long-range goal setting for the unit; 
  • Lead and coordinate systemic work and community outreach; 
  • Complete or delegate administrative tasks such as approving leave requests and reviewing timesheets and requests for reimbursement 
  • Participate in hiring of unit members; 
  • Manage staff workload, client relations, and interpersonal conflict, making recommendations for improvements or disciplinary action Collective Bargaining Agreement  
  • Assist with grant management, from application to administration and reporting.

Qualifications:

Five or more years’ experience as a legal services attorney is preferred. Prior supervisory or administrative experience with a legal services program or a law office is desirable. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the Colorado social services landscape will be essential.
