$26.37 per hour, up to 20 hours per week

We're looking for a passionate organizer with experience in direct action organizing, infrastructure development, leadership development, training, and facilitation to join our national staff. Our ideal candidate is in love and in alignment with BYP100's mission and is ready to join a dynamic team to take our base building and campaigning to the next level. 


This position supports BYP100’s work in Durham.


Key Responsibilities


  • Actively ensuring the chapters’ development and implementation of their local campaigns, as well 2020 electoral work and our national campaign (She Safe, We Safe):
  • This includes coordination and planning of campaign strategy 
  • Identifying potential local partners and alliances 
  • Implementation of campaign goals, tactics and activities to engage members and allies in campaign 
  • Inspiring local leaders to build the power they need to win
  • Support chapters in strategy development and implementation around local elections that supports early, local, and integrated engagement inside and outside of election cycles.
  • Coordinate with staff and members around rapid response and direct action as necessary.
  • Work with national and chapter leadership to create base building strategies and tactics that broaden and deepen our base of young Black folks.
  • Coordinate with staff, members, and board to develop and implement local trainings, but to also identify external training opportunities that support skill-building for members and promote a leaderful organization.
  • Collaborate with other staff/teams and chapters to ensure cross campaign communication and skill sharing.
  • Ensure that our work is aligned with our organizational goals and strategic plan (Freedom Forecast).


Candidate requirements:


  • Cares about and centers Black women, girls (cis & trans) and gender non conforming people
  • Skilled in speaking on issues of gender justice, Black liberation, policing & incarceration
  • Deep familiarity with working from an anti-oppression lens in pursuit of justice and liberation
  • At least 1 year experience in movement building: organizing, base building, direct actions, etc.
  • Commitment to learning, leadership development, and relationship building
  • Vision, creativity, enthusiasm and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Success as an independent, self-motivated leader with an ability to drive projects to completion in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to travel as necessary - it is anticipated that this position may require travel 2-3 times/ month.
  • Flexible schedule with evening and some weekend availability
