Community Development and Communications Coordinator

Flanbwayan Haitian Literacy Project seeks a Part-Time Communications and Development Coordinator, to build content for a wide array purposes – from fundraisers and donor materials, to social media content, youth stories, and press releases. 12-15 hours a week 20-25 per hour

Ideal candidate has 1 to 2 years of work experience in communications / content creation, and/or marketing or fundraising. A passion for social justice and/or community engagement. 

The Mission:

We are a small nonprofit (3 FT / 4 facilitators employees) that significantly wants to expand its communications outreach with donors, the general public, media, and other key sector leaders, and the Communications and Development Manager will play a critical role in this growth. This person will work to build meaningful relationships with individual donors, increase the reach of the organization’s media and communications programs, and serve as a key player in creating a winning message, publishing inspiring media and materials, helping to manage donor, fundraising and grant writing.  

We have been doing community service for the past 15 years. We are a youth serving organization working at the high school level. You will have a direct role in helping us grow and achieve communications and fundraising goals.

The Job:

  • Gather content for website, layout periodic newsletter and other email communications.
  • Build materials for all aspects of branding / marketing / fundraising:
  • Prepare promotional materials,
  • Other communications-related tasks as requested by the Interim Executive Director and/or board of directors.
  • Build sponsorship decks
  • Support and Assist with all aspects of organizing and executing fundraising events, including managing invitations and RSVPs, Develop social media content
  • Conduct prospect and donor research.
  • Write youth Stories
  • Write monthly emails to segmented supporter databases
  • Write press releases when needed
  • Identify new funders and research funders and sponsors
  • Research and outreach to possible sponsors, as well as strategic partners.

Skills:

  • Strong writing skills
  • Deep understanding of multiple social media platforms
  • Fastidiously organized
  • Self-starter, who can take on multiple projects at once
  • Work independently

 

Qualifications:

1-2 years experience, familiar with community based immigrant organizations and social justice work.
