Position
The Finance Coordinator will be a partner with, and report to, the Treasurer and the Executive Director (ED) in finance management functions. The successful candidate will be detail oriented and can work independently as well as with a team. This is a tremendous growth opportunity for a finance leader to maximize and strengthen the internal capacity of a well-respected nonprofit organization.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements; collate financial reporting materials as requested
- Work with ED and other program managers to coordinate annual budgeting and planning process, monitor progress and changes, and keep senior staff abreast of the organization’s financial status
- Implement a robust cloud-based data storage system for finance related documents including grants and contracts
- Manage Bill.com com implementation and on-going reconciliations
- Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; improve the finance department’s overall policy and procedure manual
- Responsible for accuracy and integrity of financial transactions in accordance with GAAP and compliance with internal control procedures
- When necessary, coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the audit committee of the board of directors; assess any changes necessary
Qualifications
- At least 2 to 5 years of experience in nonprofit finance/bookkeeping
- Commitment to working with a diverse community
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of In-Advance
- Ability to translate financial concepts to – and to effectively collaborate with -- programmatic and fundraising colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds
- Experience in grants and contracts allocation and reporting
- Technology savvy; knowledge of accounting and reporting software
- A successful track record in setting priorities; analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision making
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills
- A multi-tasker with the ability to juggle multiple priorities
