The WJP is seeking a full-time Development Associate to be located in the Seattle office and will have responsibility for 1) supporting individual, corporate and foundation fundraising activities to be carried out by the organization’s Founder & CEO and senior leadership; 2) providing Seattle-based administrative support for Operations-related tasks; and 3) providing administrative support as needed to departmental directors located in the Seattle office.




Essential Duties and Responsibilities

80% Fundraising Support

·        Conduct research and analysis of WJP’s individual, corporate and foundation giving history and prospects;

·        In coordination with senior leadership, develop major donor cultivation strategy for implementation by Founder & CEO;

·        Provide executive support for Founder & CEO fundraising and outreach efforts, sometimes under tight deadlines, including scheduling meetings, preparing trip agendas, managing high-level correspondence, and tracking outcomes in WJP databases;

·        Prepare and assemble WJP outreach and presentation materials for external distribution, in coordination with development and communications staff; and

·        Coordinate and support special programs and opportunities, as directed by the Founder & CEO;

10% Operations Support

Assist Operations Department by:

·        Providing basic office administrative functions in the Seattle office such as answering phones, checking general email inbox and forwarding to appropriate contact, coordinating tech support with external service provider, supply ordering, managing office machines including videoconferencing capabilities, and creating internal systems for better work flow;

·        Managing the organization’s Salesforce database; and

·        Working with the Operations team to help integrate the administrative functions of the Seattle office and the DC office.


10% Administrative Support

Assist Seattle-based Senior Staff with research, scheduling, and other tasks as necessary.



Skills and Experience

·        Demonstrated development experience, leading or supporting the identification, cultivation and stewardship of individual, corporate or foundation fundraising targets

·        3-5 years’ experience with executive support at organizational or project level evidencing the highest professionalism

·        Superior oral communication and interpersonal skills, especially a demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner with senior level professionals both in writing and over the phone

·        Superior writing, editing, and analytical skills

·        Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail

·        Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with others, and flexibility to respond to various projects and deadlines

·        Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize multiple competing tasks under tight deadlines

·        Familiarity with CRM/database software (Salesforce preferred)

·        Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite software; Skype, Blue Jeans or other teleconferencing platforms; and web-based research tools
