General Description

Cayenne Wellness Center is seeking a Program Manager with exceptional communication, organization, and problem solving skills to manage the various programs and projects offered throughout the year to the sickle cell community. The perfect candidate will be able to handle multiple tasks daily, using their attention to detail and organizational skills to support the Executive Director and 6 other staff members. They should be a master multi-tasker with excellent communication skills and an upbeat attitude! 

As Program Manager you’ll be encouraged to contribute to strategic decisions as well as the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures. The ideal person for this position has a strong work ethic, is diligent, reliable, values communication and wants to make a positive impact in the sickle cell community. You should be committed to providing attentive support for internal staff and external parties all while ensuring consistent and efficient operations. 

Successful candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in a health related field and have prior experience in marketing or management positions. A deep understanding of public health or nonprofit operations is also a plus.

Tasks: 

  • Administrative tasks including but not limited to:
  • Responding to general inquiries via email
  • Scheduling appointments and conference calls
  • Sending out mail
  • Supporting the Executive Director with grants
  • Identifying grant opportunities
  • Editing/researching/revising grant applications
  • Event Planning / Project Management
  • Large and small scale events
  • Identifying: transportation, food, lodging
  • Coordinating with attendees
  • Setting and tracking goals
  • Working with team members to meet those goals
  • Prepare reports, memos, invoices, letters, and other documents 
  • Research and compile data to prepare documents for review by Board of Directors, committees, and executive staff
  • Assist in preparation of meetings and events 
  • Accurately record minutes from weekly staff meetings and monthly planning committee meetings
  • Creating marketing material (flyers, social media graphics, etc.)
  • Promoting events, projects, research opportunities, and other programs on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter 
  • Managing email marketing campaigns 
  • Liaising with external vendors to plan and execute the annual sickle cell disease educational conference 
  • Providing administrative support as needed
  • Undertaking project tasks as required
  • Developing project strategies


Cayenne Wellness Center

  • Supporting/Managing a team of 5 Community Health Workers and Independent Contractors located across California
  • Tracking CHW patient support
  • Providing CHWs with resources
  • Tracking hours and timesheets
  • Volunteer management
  • Specific events or operational tasks
  • Communication
  • Social media announcements
  • Email announcements / newsletters
  • Support group reminders
  • Donor solicitation
  • Database management


MACHAO Orphanage Foundation

  • Development
  • Tracking donations
  • Donor recognition and thanks
  • Donor solicitation
  • Communications / Social Media
  • Social media announcements
  • Monthly updates
  • Volunteer Management
  • Recruit and manage volunteers for specific events
  • Recruit volunteers for operations such as: newsletters, grant research
  • Event Planning
  • Organize and plan for MACHAO’s two largest Volunteer Days


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (required). Master’s degree (preferred).
  • Detailed understanding of Microsoft Suite, Pages, and Google Docs 
  • Experience as an executive or administrative assistant 
  • Ability to organize a daily workload by priorities 
  • Must be able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced quickly changing environment 
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making skills 
  • Professional level verbal and written communications skills
  • Graphic design skills (preferred) 
  • Nonprofit fundraising (preferred) 
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines.
  • Fast problem solver 
  • Experience with MAC OS (Apple computer) and Google Drive required

  • Experience handling confidential information with discretion and sensitivity
  • Proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite, Pages, and Google Drive (Docs/Sheets)
  • Excellent internet research skills and familiarity working with databases


About Cayenne Wellness Center

Cayenne Wellness Center & Children's Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has two different missions. First, the health & wellness side at Cayenne Wellness Center is highly involved with persons diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD). Cayenne Wellness Center offers free support groups and other services to persons with SCD and their caregivers.

Second, the Children's Foundation side is the Machao Orphanage Foundation, an orphanage based out of Makeuni, Kenya and dedicated to providing education, shelter, and sustainable food staples to more than 40 children.

The Programs Manager position is a 30 hour per week position (and can be done remotely). The position is to begin immediately after hire. Rate: $18/hour
