Responsible for the recording of daily transactions including cash transactions and accounts payable transactions to ensure all transactions are complete, accurate and recorded at a timely manner. Other responsibilities include performing account analysis, preparing account reconciliations, and preparing financial schedules and reports. Make recommendations addressing the accounting policies and procedures to ensure that all financial transactions are executed and documented in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and CLC’s policies. This position reports to the Controller.

Duties Include:

·        Prepare payments by accruing expenses, assigning account numbers, verifying supporting documents to ensure disbursements are accurate and in compliance with CLC’s policies. Follow up with vendors to ensure all bills are paid accurately and timely

·        Prepare invoices and supporting documents for billings and follow up on outstanding invoices

·        Record journal entries and perform reconciliation of various routine andcomplex general ledger accounts. Research discrepancies and make appropriate correction when necessary

·        Prepare and update financial schedules and analysis reports as needed

·        Assist with month end closing and review monthly financial reports for accuracy

·        Make recommendations on methods and procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance department’s operations

·        Provide supporting documentations for internal and external audits

·        Provide necessary training for all employees to understand and comply with CLC’s policies.

·        Analyze and prepare sales tax and use tax filing annually

·        Analyze vendor accounts and prepare Form 1099 annually

·        Research and complete other regulatory filings such as raffle registration, form W2-G, etc.

·        Investigate issues according to management direction and complete special projects as needed

Skills and Abilities

Education and Experience:

·        Minimum 3-5 years of experience performing general accounting functions including accounts payable, account receivables, journal entries, preparation of supporting schedules, and financial statements,or has obtained a CPA license

·        Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration

Additional Requirements:

·        Working knowledge of GAAP, internal controls and accounting procedures

·        Proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook

·        Knowledge of local, state and federal laws related to accounting and non-profit sections preferred

·        Good written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills

·        Excellent customer service skills

·        Ability to work in a fast-pace work environment

·        Aptitude for numbers, strong attention to detail and well-organized

·        Ability to identify potential problems and resolve problems by exercising good judgment including seeking guidance from management

·        Ability to work without structure and prioritize tasks effectively

·        Ability to handle multiple tasks and solve problems independently without detailed supervision

·        Flexibility to perform a variety of detailed accounting functions and meet established deadlines

·        Strive to be a team player to ensure success for the finance department and the entire organization 

Preferred Qualifications:

·        Experience working in not-for-profit business environment preferred

·        Experience with QuickBooks or Xeroaccounting systems preferred
