Description

The Role

  • Conducts comprehensive evaluations including cognitive, academic, attention, social/emotional and functional behavior assessments
  • Provides counseling services as needed, both individually and in small groups
  • Participates actively in IEP and Child Study Team meetings in order to produce comprehensive and appropriate educational plans for students
  • Serves as a liaison between the school, student, parent and external agencies
  • Makes referrals to external agencies and appropriate programs for students in need of support services
  • Provide crisis intervention for students, which may include risk assessments, safety contracts and social service interventions
  • Collaborate with parents and teachers, engaging them as partners in the student’s therapeutic intervention
  • Conducts classroom screening to assist teachers in planning effective educational strategies for all students
  • Performs other related duties as requested by the Director of Student Support

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Licensed as a School Psychologist by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
  • Shared dedication to the Brooke Charter School philosophy and mission
  • Commitment to ensuring academic success for all students
  • Demonstration of competency in the theory, administration, and interpretation of standardized instruments
  • Ability to efficiently write comprehensive and informative reports that contain appropriate educational goals
  • Excellent skills in the areas of teamwork, oral and written communication, and organization
