Catalyst-for-Change Fellowship

M.A.P is India’s first and only dedicated centre for refugee law and migration studies. We work closely with displaced communities in India, providing legal assistance and other support towards expanding the legal protection space for this group.

M.A.P has launched a new Fellowship Programme entitled the Catalyst-for-Change (CFC) Fellowship. The Programme seeks to identify and train a community of rights-defenders and justice leaders to advance access to justice for one of the most vulnerable communities in our society – migrants and refugees. The Programme is designed to provide a dynamic learning experience and a transformative career opportunity for early-career lawyers who are passionate about social justice issues.

What does the Programme Offer?

The Fellows will have an unparalleled opportunity to spend twelve to eighteen months gaining both academic and field experience working in the niche area of refugee law and forced migration, and being part of a movement to build an inclusive and responsive legal protection landscape through a rule of law-focused approach.

The Fellows will work directly with migrant and refugee communities across India and will have the rare chance to use core human rights and international law principles to directly impact the lives of their clients.

Over the course of the Programme, the Fellows will be trained to effectively leverage the law as a tool to protect the rights of displaced populations, contribute to ongoing advocacy and policymaking efforts and undertake pathbreaking research and work in the field. Fellows will also have exposure to the workings of M.A.P’s key partners and collaborators, which includes UN agencies, CSOs, state legal aid authorities etc.

Who Should Apply?

We are looking for applicants who are qualified lawyers, with 0-2 years of experience, with good academic qualifications, and a demonstrated commitment towards human rights and development issues.

This listing is only for Indian nationals.

What are the Terms of the Programme?

Start Date: 1st January, 2021

Location: New Delhi

Duration: 12 months, extendable by a maximum of 6 months

Monthly Stipend: INR 45000 (subject to applicable TDS)
