    Senior Director of Programs

    The opportunity:

    The Senior Director of Programs at Kings Bay YM-YWHA and JCC Brooklyn is a key leadership role responsible for the strategic oversight, development, and management of essential program areas, including Summer Camps (Kings Bay Y and JCC Brooklyn Summer Day Camps), Youth Services (After School Programs, SONYC programs,Children’s classes ), communal events, Special Needs Programming and some other fee for-service programs. This person supervises a diverse team of full-time and part-time staff, ensuring the successful execution of programs and events that align with the organization’s mission and strategic goals.

    Qualifications:

    • 5 years of experience in a non-profit program setting for youth and children ( fee for service programs) 
    • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution ( Master’s Preferred)
    • Skills:
    • A sense of humor, responsibility, and excellent communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Excel ( Monday.com, Campminder a plus) 
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
    • Familiarity with Jewish culture and traditions is preferred but not required.
    • Sales & customer service skills 

    Qualifications:

    • Extensive experience in non-profit program development and management, event supervision, and strategic leadership with focus on fee for service programs.
    • Proven ability to lead and develop teams, manage budgets, and engage with community stakeholders.
    • Strong communication, marketing, and public relations skills, with a commitment to the mission and values of Kings Bay YM-YWHA and JCC Brooklyn.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Program Leadership & Strategy:

    • Provide visionary leadership and day-to-day management of all assigned program areas, ensuring that programs are innovative, impactful, and aligned with organizational goals.
    • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous evaluation of programs, focusing on exceeding set KPIs, enhancing participant experience, and ensuring sustainability.
    • Collaborate closely with the COO to shape and execute the strategic direction of the organization, ensuring that all programs and events contribute to the broader mission.

    Event Planning & Supervision:

    • Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of all major events within the program areas, ensuring they meet high standards of quality and participant satisfaction.
    • Supervise staff and volunteers during events to ensure smooth operations, addressing any issues promptly and maintaining a positive environment.
    • Collaborate with the Marketing team to promote events effectively across all relevant neighborhoods, enhancing community engagement and visibility.

    Staff Management & Development:

    • Lead, mentor, and manage a team that includes a number of full-time and part-time staff. 
    • Provide ongoing professional development opportunities and conduct annual staff performance evaluations

            Community Engagement:

    • Ensure a high level of member and customer service across all departments, fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for all participants.
    • Act as the primary liaison with community organizations, key stakeholders, and partners 

    Marketing:

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy to promote programs and events across the neighborhoods served by Kings Bay Y and JCC Brooklyn.

    Fiscal & Grant Management:

    • Oversee the annual budgets for all pertinent programs, ensuring that financial goals are met and resources are effectively managed to support program excellence.
    • Participate in grant writing, budgeting, and fundraising efforts, including organizing donor events, securing sponsorships, and other revenue-generating activities.

    Schedule/Location:

    • Full-time position in person based in our Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn office

    Salary: 

    • $ 70,000-90,000 commensurate with experience
