We are looking to hire a Wellness Director who will manage the health operations of our overnight camp program in northwest New Jersey. License reciprocity available for qualified candidates.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Act in loco parentis in the care of 80-100 campers per session.

• Meet with Wellness Administrator to review written Standing Orders and implement these under physician's direction.

• Manage and administer medications under physician's direction.

• Promote and support the implementation of the camp Wellness Program as a dynamic, integral aspect of daily living.

• Become familiar with and adhere to health and emergency care reporting standards developed by the American Camping Association and the State of New Jersey.

• Keep all first aid kits stocked and serviceable.

• Establish infirmary hours for child and staff visits and be cooperative and available for emergencies.

• Manage camper health forms and medical records.

• Maintain accurate, specific records of all injuries, illnesses, treatments and medications administered in the camp medical log.

• Contact parents of children via phone who were treated by physician/hospital/dentist during their stay, or whose health records need updating.

• Conduct weekly inspections of campsites and facilities and provide suggestions for the maintenance of health, safety, and wellness.


QUALIFICATIONS:

• R.N. licensed to practice in the state of New Jersey preferred, other certifications considered (including EMT/LPN/WFA)

• Current certification in Standard First Aid and CPR (adult and child) required

• Experience working with children and young adults in the areas of health and medical emergencies

• Experience and comfort living and working in a residential camp setting

• Ability to keep accurate records and write quality reports

• Ability to provide positive leadership for children and adults

• Ability to respond to medical situations in a rustic, outdoor environment

• Good health and physical endurance

• Ability to work productively in a stressful environment

• Good sense of humor


Full summer contract OR 2-week blocks available. 


Full Summer: June 18 - August 25


Two Week Blocks

Session 1: June 29 - July 12

Session 2: July 13 - July 26

Session 3: July 27 - August 19

Session 4: August 10 - August 23


Staff Orientation Block

June 18 - June 30

(A partial or commuting schedule during the staff orientation block ideal for a candidate filling one or more of the session blocks.)

Salary: $500-$600 weekly, depending on certification/experience. Position includes room and board.

All staff, including Wellness Director, receive one day off per week.

Accommodations for children of Wellness Director(s) may be available, either in the provided housing or having child(ren) join camp program.
