REPORTS TO: Director of Development

STATUS: Regular/Part-Time/Non-Exempt

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Blue Bear School of Music is seeking a Development Associate to join our development team.  The successful candidate will work closely with the Development Director and the Executive Director on all phases of fundraising except for grant writing.  Flexible schedule with some work on nights and weekends for special events expected.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

·      Donation processing: all aspects of gift entry and acknowledgments

·      List and database management

·      Event support – especially silent auction outreach and fulfillment

·      Annual campaign mailing - managing lists, segmentation, mail house interface

·      Maintain communication with funders including a quarterly newsletter

·      Prospect research

·      Represent Blue Bear at internal and external events 

·      Administrative support for the Development Director and the Executive Director

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

·       Minimum of 3 years in a nonprofit development position

·     Preferably in the arts and in the Bay Area

·       Expertise with fundraising databases

·       Experience with annual campaign list and mailing management

·       Experience with silent auction management

·       Experience with email programs (preferably MailChimp)

·       Experience contacting and developing relationships with donors and sponsors. 

·       Experience leveraging social media for fundraising

·  Extremely organized, efficient, and detailed-oriented with an attention to accuracy.

·  Strong interpersonal relationship skills, customer service skills, and ability to work both independently and within a team.

·  Must be able to handle sensitive information with tact, diplomacy, and discretion.

Additional desirable experience includes:

·      Familiarity with WordPress websites and basic HTML/CSS coding skills

·      Ability to create graphic materials using InDesign and Illustrator

·      Familiarity with donor prospecting

·      Ability to create photo and video assets
