Multimedia Coordinator - Best Buy Teen Tech Center (Oakland)

Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Program Manager for the McClymonds High School After School Program, the Best Buy Teen Tech Center Coordinator based at the McClymonds Youth & Family Center supports youth-directed project-based learning at the Best Buy Teen Tech Center (BBTTC) for youth ages 12-19 from a variety of Oakland schools in conjunction with the hybrid extended day/after-school program at McClymonds High School. Working hours are from 10:30am to 6:30pm from Monday through Friday.

Job Duties:

• Responsible for recruitment of students for the BBTTC to fulfill the attendance requirement from OUSD, State and Best Buy.

• Work with the Site Coordinator to develop and implement a recruitment and retention strategy for youth participants, including both youth from McClymonds High School and other areas.

• Ensure that the Best Buy Teen Tech Center space is developed, maintained, and supported in line with the Clubhouse Network guidelines to support youth-directed technology learning.

• Coordinate and work with volunteer mentors to support youth projects.

• Implement systems for tracking attendance and completing all necessary administrative paperwork for both Clubhouse Network requirements and after-school program funding requirements.

• Develop relationships with school teachers, administrators, community organizations, and others as needed to support program goals.

• Participate in relevant community collaborations and respond to requests for information from community members.

• Work closely with supervisor to create reports for funding sources and stakeholders.

• Participate in professional development opportunities, including required Clubhouse Network training, regular staff meetings, and content-specific workshops as needed.

• Support schoolwide and community program events throughout the school year.

• Manage relationships with Best Buy Corporation and the Clubhouse Network.

• Able to work remotely for virtual program activities, as necessary during school and office closure due to public health concerns/pandemic.


Qualifications:

• 2+ years' experience working with youth in youth development and/or educational programs using multi-media tools.

• Minimum 3-5 years' experience working on multimedia-related projects, experience in project management, community development, and organizing.

• Ability to teach youth software ProTools and Reason (additional software expertise a plus).

• Ability to work in a youth-friendly, student-centered environment; experience working with diverse groups and communities; ability to work with high-risk youth.

• Must be a self-starter with excellent follow-through, strong public speaking skills and organizational skills

• Driver's license, insurance, and registration.

• AA degree plus 4 years of volunteer/professional experience in leading or teaching a multimedia project with youth OR BA degree plus 2 years of volunteer/professional experience leading or teaching a multimedia project with youth OR 6 years of volunteer/professional experience in leading or teaching a multimedia project with youth.


$25 /hour, full time (40 hrs, Monday through Friday, from 10:30am to 6:30pm) plus health, vision and dental benefits.
