About the African American Board Leadership Institute:

Established in 2011, the African American Board Leadership Institute (AABLI) was created to develop a pipeline of qualified African American candidates for membership on governing boards—nonprofit, for-profit and public commissions. The mission of the African American Board Leadership Institute is to strengthen nonprofit, public and private organizations through recruiting, training and assisting with the placement of African Americans on a broad range of governing boards.

Position Overview:

AABLI is seeking a full-time professional to provide oversight of AABLI’s programmatic excellence and quality. Reporting directly to the Director of Communications and Operations, the program and placement coordinator is responsible for program implementations and placement services. The ideal candidate will have a track record as a relationship builder, communicator and strategist with the goal to increase the impact of our work.

Primary Responsibilities:

Programs

·       Coordinate and manage local programing for the Board Leadership Program and the Educational Leadership Series

·       Recruit program participants using a variety of platforms

·       Program Committee Liaison: staff and assist program chair with meetings, reports, and take related minutes

·       Work closely with faculty and the program committee to provide support and develop program content

·       Maintain data reconciliation for program enrollments

·       Prepare a variety of program-related reports and evaluations

·       Lead staff: Outreach and engagement, attend targeted events to promote AABLI

·       Analyze data in CRM and prepare variety of reports as necessary

Placement

·       Lead staff: Facilitate and manage the placement process with alumni and Member Organizations (those organizations seeking board members)

·       Manage and maintain the placement custom match engine database 

·       Coordinate and manage Board Matching events in a ‘Speed Dating’ format

Administration

·       Assist and manage mailings, answering phones, data entry, and other ongoing projects

·       Manage and schedule the President's calendar

·       Provide support for the annual giving campaign

·       Oversee the scheduling of the board quarterly meetings, reports, and take related minutes

·       Prepare packets (collateral materials) for outreach, the public and for prospects

·       Input and maintain data in Salesforce. Use card scan for new contacts using Vision-e software

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function assigned satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

·       Experience: Experience with event management and implementation preferred. Experience in interacting with consultants and executing projects to achieve results is essential.

·       Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field.

·       Communications Skills: Must have critical thinking, organizational and verbal skills. Excellent writing skills with the ability to write clear, concise analyses and narratives.

·       Technical Knowledge: Online research competency and strong computer proficiency, including mastery of the Microsoft Office suites. Working knowledge of Salesforce software preferred, with the willingness and ability to learn appropriate CRM in addition to familiarity with general project management computer software and hardware skills.

·       Convening and Facilitation Abilities:  Ability to facilitate meetings, including leading and speaking in front of groups and group processes for the purposes of fact-finding, decision-making, peer learning and problem solving.

·        Project Management Skills: Ability to prioritize assignments effectively, meet multiple and competing demands and follow projects through to completion. Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to produce high-quality work in a dynamic environment.

·       Team Work and General Skills: Ability to work independently, think creatively and work as part of a team. Track record of building relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

·       Must have reliable transportation and be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends.

·       Other duties as assigned.

Compensation:

Full-time (40 hours per week), non-exempt, pay rate range is $22.00 to $25.00 per hour. AABLI offers an outstanding benefits package which includes health and dental coverage, retirement plan, vacation and holidays.
