Position Overview 

Reporting to the Senior Director of Academics, the High School Curriculum Director is responsible for improving our current high school Saga materials by increasing focus on conceptual understanding, and by collaborating with site teams to fill current curriculum gaps. This includes the brainstorming, writing, and editing of lessons, activities, assessments, and test-prep banks for high school math. This role will manage and oversee the workload for 2 full-time Assistant Curriculum Writers, 2 part-time Editors, and 1 Translator. In this position, you will be expected to uphold our organizational standards of excellence, responsiveness, proactivity, and over-delivering service at all times.

Responsibilities 

  • You will prioritize an improvement plan for existing Saga curriculum to better align with academic scopes and sequences at various school sites, understanding we continuously improve our materials to better focus on conceptual understanding
  • You will manage 2 Assistant Curriculum Writers, 2 part-time Editors, and a Spanish Translator by assigning work to maximize strengths and value to the team while monitoring completion and quality
  • You will format all Saga materials in a professional and clean manner, adhering to Saga branding
  • You will coach direct reports to improve performance steadily over time to increase impact by giving regular feedback on projects and holding regular check-ins
  • You will develop new activities and lessons, through the lens of understanding materials will be used by Saga Fellows, who are generally not trained math teachers
  • You will oversee creation of test prep banks, as needed by districts
  • You will oversee and create a project-management tool for translation of curriculum into Spanish

Competencies

  • You are a self-starter and motivated by detail-oriented tasks
  • You have the ability to work remotely with efficiency to meet deadlines
  • You have extreme attention to and love for detail
  • You have a strong desire to improve conceptual math understanding in students

Experience & Qualifications 

  • You are proficiency in high school and middle school math
  • You have the organizational ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines while working from home
  • You have the ability to identify key points and common misconceptions of high school math topics
  • You welcome giving and receiving feedback with a growth mindset
  • You have 2+ years experience teaching or tutoring high school math 
  • You have experience managing and coaching direct reports
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Word, Google Apps (Docs, Slides, Sheets, Drive)
