Camps Wakonda, American Camp Association Accredited camp, is seeking a Chef for campers ages 7-13.


Responsibilities Include:

·        Prepare and serve three meals and a snack per day.

·        Supervise kitchen and dining room staff for the implementation and development of an effective and enjoyable feeding operation.

·        Maintain an accurate inventory of all food and food-related items stored in kitchen.

·        Maintain standards regarding sanitation, appearance and maintenance of the kitchen, equipment, grounds and outdoor garbage area as set by HFH Summer Camps and the New York State Department of Health.

·        Work with the Purchasing Agent for the buying of food on a weekly basis.



·        Desire to work and live in the outdoors from June 9-August 21, 2018.

·        Knowledge of and experience in group feeding operations for 100 + persons.

·        Ability to prepare foods according to a diverse menu, mostly from scratch (with

·        exception of baked goods).

·        Knowledge of all aspects of Kitchen and Dining Room management.

·        Knowledge of kitchen sanitation requirements as set up by The New York State Department of Health.

You will also need to provide: We will also need:

·        Three letters of reference

·        A physical exam by a licensed Medical Doctor and be up to date with all required immunizations

·        Additional special skills and certifications (First Aid, CPR, EMT, and other) are a plus.


Summer 2018 Camp Schedule

·        Saturday, June 9 staff expected to arrive to camp 

·        Monday, June 18th General Staff Training begins at 12 Noon

Session 1: Thursday June 28, 2018 - Wednesday July 11, 2018

·        Sunday, July 15th staff back from break by 12:00 PM

Session 2: Monday July 16, 2018 - Monday July 30, 2018

·        Thursday, August 2nd staff back from break by 12:00 PM

Session 3: Friday August 3, 2018 - Friday August 17, 2018
