Uncommon Good is a nonprofit organization that operates education, urban farming, health and environmental programs for low-income families. Its education program, Connect to College, is a college access program that provides disadvantaged students in 4th – 12th grade with mentors, academic tutors, college preparation, and enrichment opportunities. Our urban farm program, CAUSA, provides healthy food for families as well as health/wellness and environmental education. Our MED program supports young doctors who serve in disadvantaged communities and also functions as a medical career pipeline for Connect to College students.

Position Summary: Uncommon Good is interested in hiring an individual interested in learning how to raise funds for our nonprofit organization.

The new hire will work under the direction of our Development Director.

Responsibilities:

·        Research and identify potential funders

·        Gather data, statistics, and information pertinent to our programs and funding efforts

·        Write grants (foundations and government)

·        Evaluate programs and collect data. data base management

·        Write reports

·        Assist with our annual appeal

·        Grow our donor base

·        Analyze financial reporting documents and create budgets

Knowledge, Characteristics, Skills, and Experience We Seek

·        Excellent writing skills

·        Excellent organizational skills; attention to detail; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

·        Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), and WordPress

·        Proficient in using social media

·        Able to analyze financial reporting documents and to create budgets

·        Able to work collaboratively

·        Database management skills

Requirements

·        A four-year college degree (B.A. or B.S.)

·        Willingness to work flexible hours as work is sometimes required on evenings and weekends

·        Willingness to travel throughout the Los Angeles region

Additional Desirable Requirement

·        Proficient with eTapestry

Salary and Benefits: Salary range for this position is $50,000 to $60,000 depending upon experience. If the employee does not have health insurance from another source, health insurance is provided at no cost to the employee. A 403(b)(7) Individual Custodial Account is available. Uncommon Good provides a paid annual personal day allotment.
