Tearfund is a Christian relief and development agency working in more than 50 countries, including locations in the Middle East. As part of our Middle East crisis response Tearfund is launching a comprehensive SGBV protection and assistance strategy targeting vulnerable populations. The strategy will include multi-sectoral initiatives in collaboration with NGO and inter-government organizations and agencies providing related services.

We are looking to recruit a Middle East Protection Advisor. This position is a key member of the regional team based in Middle East with travel in the region (Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq).

Under the overall direction of the Tearfund Middle East Response Director and Tearfund's technical Protection and Gender Unit, the Protection Advisor will represent Tearfund in these countries.

The Protection Advisor will provide both technical support as well as operational and coordination leadership for Tearfund's regional programming including staff/partner training and sensitisation, liaison and coordination with organisations working in the refugee and IDP setting, and overall strategy/program development, monitoring and evaluation. Tearfund works in direct implementation and in partnership with local NGOs and faith-based groups. The Protection Advisor will lead support to both Tearfund's humanitarian programmes and partner's initiatives.

The successful candidate must be passionate about serving those in need with experience of working cross-culturally.

Proven experience working in mental health and psycho-social support is preferred.
